My Rubi is due mid January and I will be replacing the stock tires and wheels and suspension with Mopar 2". More than willing to sell stock suspension if anyone is interested. Thinking $300 + shipping cost if not local. PM me if interested.

Easy enough to do, shade tree mechanic DIY (jack stands, replace rear springs at the same time), no steering alignment necessary. I like the ride; I can definitely tell it sits a little taller. I don't tow much, just a utility trailer on occasion. For anyone's reference, below is out of the manual.

I have an Overland. I see lots of rubicon suspensions for sale. What would I gain from installing it under the overland? I’m considering a mild lift and was curious if this gives a little added height.
Rubicon suspension doesn't get you much-- the Rubicon model gets you locking diff's front and rear, sway bar disconnect and wider Dana 44 axles front and rear. Those three things are a bigger deal than the suspension per se...

Is there a difference between the Rubicon suspension on a manual transmission vs automatic? Or is the transmission the limiting factor here in the 4,500 lbs. vs. 7,000 lbs. towing capacity.

I am sure there is some minor spring rate differences to account between manual and automatic but that will mainly be for the ride quality tuning.

Regardless, you are on the right track when it comes to towing that transmission selection is the main limiting factor between the two and the tow rating.

Springs may come into play for payload but that is another topic all together and point of arguement as no matter what you put on for springs, it will never increase your "LEGAL" ratings for payload.

True, and I won't disagree with the legality of it.

I think my main thinking behind it is if I were to swap to a Rubicon set up for springs/shocks that came off a manual Rubicon would it lower my tongue weight and towing capacity of my sport that's rated higher than 450lbs/4,500lbs?

Most of the lower tow and payload specs in the Rubicon models is due to extra weigh the Rubicon models has because of the unique equipment to that model.

Me personally, if I was playing engineer with a Sport Model Manual Gladiator and wanting perceived extra margins, I would be looking at automatic model MAX TOW take off springs and shocks.

If you ever plan to lift it properly, I would not even waste the time and money with OEM take offs.

I installed the Rubicon suspension along with the teraflex 1.5 leveling kit. I got about a 2 in lift up front and leveled out the jeep. Shocks are a great improvement on their own. IMO if you can get it cheap, a great option if you want a great stance with great ride and not have to change track bars, control arms, sway bar links, etc.

A guy in another thread recently compared Rubicon coils to Max Tow coils and said there was almost zero difference in height. But the Rubicon coils were spongy and linear. So I think the high rise fenders and slightly larger tires are where the Rubicon height comes from.
There is a little bit of height compared to max tow.
I did rubicon fronts on mine, and yes the rubicon springs are more spongelike, but its not a bad feel...just different.
