Sorry, that's very wrong. Please read the first page of this thread.
Over a year and still no one reads the manual...
(Also is answered in several places besides this thread) =
right dial is for the dash/cluster/center display brightness,
LEFT dial is for accent lighting brightness. If you don't have accent lighting, you won't see much of anything change.
There is No timer controlled by dials.
It's the PDF version of the owner book on Page 48
