What is the difference in them... especially if I kept the stock max tow springs?

thanks!

I have a max tow... and I swapped in the Fox shocks... someone was selling them for 200 bucks... there is a slight difference in the feel of the Fox shocks... smoother on washboard and such. They are a little longer... the Rubicon springs are 3/4 of an inch higher or so... so I put in spacers (1.5 front, 3/4 rear...) and went with fox shocks. It is a nice ride.

@Sunnysideup did you have to put the spacers in?

Can you feel that they are actually softer? Would this affect towing drop?

Valving of different shocks will not affect towing.

I think the shocks are maybe even stiffer on the high end, they rebound or damping is what it slightly softer in its feel.

I put the spacers in to be sure the shocks were operating as close as possible to what length they were designed for. They might have been fine without spacers... I just wanted them in the ballpark of their design.

I also have enough space to go to 35s now. Even though I'm running 33s.

Tow ratings should not be changed by the shocks.

Yes I wasn’t referring to tow rating I was referring the the load on the trailer hitch and how much the bed drops based on the shock... but it seems it’s more based on the springs than shocks.

I am running 35’s

this info is very helpful thanks

I in theory did the same. Originally i swapped in the Rubi springs and did not like the ride. I went back to stock springs w a 3/4 spacer and left the fox shocks. I like the ride.

I bought 4 of the Red fox replacement shocks from Fortec thinking they would be a cheap upgrade until I could get a set of Eibach . They acted like they had 100,000 miles on them and they were no longer than my Max Tow's were. I eventually just bought the MOPAR 2" lift springs and Eibachs . All I did was throw good money in the trash for those Red Rubicon shocks .
