I've poked around in the android play store and tried a few apps like AllTrails, but it just didn't seem a good enough fit to pay for. (I'm only interested in off-roading trails).

Something that shows stuff like yellow post sites, challenge areas,, and points of interest would be great.

Secondly, what are you running it on (tablet/ipad/other)?

I will say the uConnect map had many of the remote road/trails listed in Big Bear.

Until then I'll fighting with my old forest service maps - lol.

I've used OnX Offroad through the android auto.
I also use Avenza Maps on my phone, not sure if it's supported by android auto.
On the motorcycles we tend to use Rever, but that's more for the tracking purposes.

Check out Trails Off Road. It has what your looking for. I just started helping to write for them. Official "Trails" (to trails off road) are given a rating, a full write up, as well as pictures associated with waypoints that discuss challenges or points of interest. They also have a feature called 'scout trails' which have a lesser quality writeup but are designed to be a writeup for volunteer writers, and if enough attention is gained the official team will do a full writeup.

The trail data can be downloaded onto their app. And trails and waypoints can be exported to a GPX file for use with GAIA, or caltopo, or another GPS option of your choice that accepts GPX files.

We use Maprika for RC and AOAA in the east coast. It was originally made for Skiing, but the local offroad parks have adapted it very well to their needs.

Sadly it does not work with CarPlay or AndroidPLay, but that really doesn't seem to matter much.
