I have some led pods for my bed rack. Of course they have a hot and a ground, but what’s the yellow wire for? (They came with no instructions)

If its yellow, let it mellow...?

Should be for a simple back lighting or a “daytime running light” effect would be my 1st guess.

Since you didn’t post any real info, no one can give a real answer. Perhaps a link or manufacturer info is in order.

Or just go redneck on it and put power to it and see what happens. Oh, and tell somebody to, “Hold my beer” before you spark it up.

They were freebies. Don’t know manufacturer. It’s just a pod light for a bed rack. 3 wires. Hot, ground, and yellow What more info do you need?

Manufacture name would let someone that owns them answer your question.

Without that, ground the black wire and then touch the yellow wire to positive on battery and see if you get a faint light. If you get a faint light, then it's a back light. If you want that option then you need to run the yellow to a switched power source. Fuse 52 is such a source, you can use an Add-A-Circuit tap and the back lights will come on when JT is started.
If you don't want that option, cover the end of the yellow and don't use it.

That’s what I’ll be doing. Wiring them to an aux switch.
