I traded in a fully accessorized Mercedes Convertible. Sexiest looking little thing ever.
BUT, I don't need to travel to big business meetings and fancy dinners anymore, so I wanted something I did not have to worry about.
Oddly, I get just as many compliments from random people on the JT as I did with the fancy cars I have owned.
2013 Tundra. Im temped by the new release 2022 to go back to a Tundra but I hope that idea passes. I thought it was hideous when first released but it is growing on me.
Previous vehicle was a 2015 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel. Not a bad vehicle but overall meh. Torque was nice and MPG was nice (both, especially, after a GDE tune) but not long after it passed the 3/36 warranty, I discovered that a bolt had cracked somewhere on an exhaust joint underneath the middle of the truck, and, although nearly nothing other than an engine error light gave sign of it, it turned out that the cracked bolt had allowed the exhaust to twist enough to wreck a specialized $800 + sensor, which, by then, was not covered by warranty. And I don't pamper my trucks but I also don't beat on them, there is NO reason that bolt should have sheared off. That was enough to cure me, entirely and permanently, of interest in "modern" diesels.
I enjoy my JT far more than any of the 10-12 vehicles of many makes and sizes and ages that came before it.
Need to add Wagons and Convertibles. to the choices. Traded a 2012 Volvo C70 Retractable HT .
Sold
2000 Tundra
1993 F150 RC Short bed 4wd
1966 F100
1984 Bronco
Done with tinkering to keep the fleet
running .
So now I have a convertible AND a truck.
I did keep a car to work on. A 1958
Ford Skyliner (retractable ) just for fun.
Very freeing to down size.
My wife and I moved from a part of the country where being a 1-vehicle family made sense to a place where 2-vehicle is a necessity. And where 4x4 (or AWD) is as well. Her car (which we still have) is a VW Golf, just put on the winter tires (Blizzaks).
I'm actually super interested how many in the poll are moving from a full size down to mid-size. Very interesting indeed.
Took advantage of the crazy used car market prices and consolidated from two cars to the JT. Sold a leased 2019 Civic si to Carmax made a few grand in equity, and traded in a 2020 Outback Onyx XT for what I paid for it a year prior.
