Good thread. I’ve always had a truck and always wanted a jeep and always wanted a convertible. Never bought the latter two because it wasn’t practical to forgo the truck ability for the fun. Now I have everything in one vehicle.

I have owned more motorcycles than Cars. I commute on them. So my vehicle needs were always related to motorcycles in the sense I needed something that could carry motorcycles without a trailer if possible. So I have only owned pickup trucks, with one exception:

A 1992 Mazda Miata. I had a lot of fun with that car, especially restoring it, but as time went on, I drove it less, because when the weather was nice, I was on the bikes.

Other than the Miata I have owned four trucks: 1. A auto 4 cylinder 2wd 2 door Nissan before they were named Frontiers 2. A manual V6 2wd 2 door Tacoma. 3. A Silverado 1500 2wd 2 dr regular cab 8 foot box in WT Trim (Vinyl seats & floor, roll up windows).

So next I wanted a 4WD 4 door convertible pick up truck that is not so tall that I can still carry motorcycles in the bed, and the Gladiator was released.

I waited a year, lurked on these forums just absorbing as much as I could, and after Jeep updated the steering box I pulled the trigger last month and picked it up last Saturday.

2021 80th anniversary edition.

My "build" will be The Best of Both Worlds, inspired by the VH song.

So first mod - Sunrider

I'm 70yrs old. My whole life I have been a pick-up guy. (Mostly GM.) I always wanted a convertible. I always wanted a Jeep. For my Birthday, I ordered a 21 Gladiator. I LOVE IT! Is it pricy, YES. I tell people , "I'm worth it!" I feel that I have the most fun "Cadillac truck of the North".

I’m very happy for you. I am a full size convert for the same reasons. JEEP could’ve been selling these for a long time if they had built it earlier

I downsized from full size trucks too because it's simply a pain sometimes going through smaller downtown areas and parking was a pain.

I farm. If I need something bigger I reach for it (SA dump truck, 26' flatbed, TS winch truck, semi). 99% of the time, the Gladiator is plenty (easily pulls a 14K tender down dirt roads field to field). My father bought a new Ford F250 (73 in fall of 72). This Gladiator's GVW is higher than it was. And it fits in a Sonic stall.

Me too. Old age is causing me to rethink my Harley and going either with a lighter model or heaven forbid, forgo riding.

Just before Christmas I was at the local HD stealer looking to trade on a new Street Glide, and I thought why I don't ride enough to justify keeping one I own much less buy a new one. Way to many rider fatalities in the news. Once the summer season hits we have one or two every day.
