Wheel weights

i was looking at wheel weights, and i'm not familar with truck wheels, but dang these seem heavy. What is the stock wheel weight on a rubicon JL or JT?

The black rhino armory wheels are 50 lbs for a 17x9.5, (figured they would be, that's a lot of metal), the Fuel one piece beast d564 that @Bobs85Reny uses on a lot of his renderings is 34 lbs for a 17x9.5. In the racing world this 16 lbs per wheel weight would be a huge penalty in MPG or performance. I'm assuming its still not good with trucks?

I agree the aftermarket seems heavy. Since I am getting a m/t I that means I can’t tow as much I can get by with less in the wheel. Looking at these. https://www.4wd.com/p/pro-comp-69-s...ttern-flat-black-7069-7973/_/R-BKBQ-7069-7973 24 pounds each. I too wish I could find the OEM weights. My only concern is that these are not hub centric.

So when it says max load 2200, you need to multiply by 4, 8800 and that's the max weight of the vehicle, cargo and tongue weight, right?

So if the JT is 5000, 10% tongue weight of trailer at 7000 is 700. 5700, so that leaves you with 3100 lbs of cushion?

Yes Sir, assumption is correct, as long as the wheel is strong enough, the lighter the better

I honestly don’t know. By your math are you saying AFTER a trailer weighing 7k you would still have room for an additional 3100? If so that is plenty since the m/t can’t even tow 7k pounds. I don’t remember it I think it was 4k or 4.5k.

On the wheels strength. Failure is rare though. Usually caused by excessive force such as an accident.

So overall verdict I am good to go with my pro comp 24 lb pound wheels. I love the simple look.

Still want to know the weight of the OEM wheels, I can only assume they are more than 24lbs. Hope this will also enhance performance as well.

Not an engineer but I think - Yes he has that cushion available. The tongue weight is direct the trailer weight is drag and not directly affecting wheel capacity. Most of trailer weight supported by its own wheels

I just checked, one place said anywhere from 9-15%. So at 15% of the weight of the trailer pushing down on the tongue.

If this is right, it would be 4650(sport S)+1050 = 5700 DRY weight. Add in fuel people and cargo, subtract that from 8800. So even if you had 1600 lbs (max cargo weight) plus four 200lb dudes in there, you would still have 700lb cushion.

Unless i'm totally wrong with my math or understanding.

i can't seem to find where you found the 24 lb weights for this wheel, also I thought the JT was 17x9.5.

I have no idea where i found the 50 lbs figure, i just checked 1795ARY-85127G71 product code at black rhino's site, they say its only 35 lbs.

I know its only 7 reviews, but...https://www.quadratec.com/p/black-rhino/armory-wheel-gun-black-07-17-jeep-wrangler-jk shows a 2.5star, and several said they end up rusting soon. I guess that's probably authentic military?? One guy said he's even bent his rims when airing down.

ya, I read them.
BUT I'm still all gooney-goo-goo over them.
Other reviews weren't as critical, and I don't have to worry about road salt.

And as badly as I may be judged for this, I'm not worried about airing down too much as bridge expansion seams are about the worst I see.
plus that crowd that runs Mall speed bumps are too hard-core, especially right after Thanksgiving...

OH YA, I already wrote that check, they'll be delivered and sitting in the garage this week...
