First, congrats and heartfelt thanks to all you who make getting into a Jeep easier for those less able!!!! My Father-In-Law is 94, is wheelchair bound, can barely stand, and has minimal upper body strength left, and is midway into the alzheimers / dementia slide. But he FREAKING LOOOOVES to go Jeeping! So this thread hits close to home.

Right now, while he can still at least stand (albeit feebly), we put him in the front passenger seat. We get the door wide open, and get him up and standing - and with standard Rubicon lift, standard Rubi 33's, and overhead hand holds, he can just about transition perfectly into the seat if we get a small platform to get him to step up on. Then, we help him swing his legs in.

After that it's all smiles all afternoon!!! Of course, he wants the freedom tops off. I don't want to tell him the doors come off too. LOL

My mother in law even loves it. So happy to be able to get them out of their normal living environment and give them a little joy for an afternoon. It's a small price to pay for taking it easy and not hitting the nasty stuff!

Now when they come over to the house, my Mother in Law wants to watch jeeping videos on youtube.

I show her the extreme Moab stuff and tell he that's where we're headed next week. Hahaaaaa! They are both good sports.

Now....they both ask about how the jeep is doing, what mods we did, and where we're wheeling before asking about us or the grandkids.

Gladiator + limited ability Senior care = WIN/WIN for us.

NOT getting political..........but there is zero reason why either Social Security or Medicare could not pay for this. The Pentagon can lose or miss account for 6+Bilion in assets that went to a foreign nations.......the least they can do is pay to make our fellow citizens comfortable and mobile.

Cheers to those that had good information to share........ this is why the Jeep community is great.....minus the angrybird grills LOL

Check this out. Not cheap by any means but.. life changer. We are getting it installed first week of May 2023. Works on Jeep JLU and Gladiator driver or passenger side. Must order the side you want it on, can’t switch. Maintains factory seat, adds in a cool tilt and slide, like having a 7way power seat in my RAM.

It’s called ‘Link’ by Adapt Solutions.

United Access (formerly Ability Center) installed it.

I'm glad to see you guys that are mobility restricted, getting out and doing cool stuff! Quick question, does insurance help pay for lifts, controls etc? I saw the one that cost $14k and that is a chunk of change.
