Hello everyone. I’ve been lurking on the forum for a few weeks, but this is the first post - great forum!

I ordered a diesel JTR two weeks ago and I’m working on the build. So far I’ve ordered Nitto Trail Grapplers in 40x15.5x20, and Black Rhino Armory wheels (20x12).
I’m leaning toward the EVO 4.5 Overland, but struggling on the shocks.
Realistically, this will be an overbuild for me. I’ll take it off road and tear things up, but it will only be as time allows and my time is thin. Not gonna be a daily driver, it’s gonna be a toy.
If I go with the Kings, I supposedly don’t have to change the drive shaft. If I do go with Kings, do I get the adjustable ones? It’s not much more money so I’m leaning toward going with them.
Or.....Do I go with a totally direction with the shocks?
I’ve read all I can find on here, but not really finding the answer.

Thanks in advance!

It’s going depend on the extended length of the shock not the brand. I’d like to think King has various lengths based off lift height. If you’re going with that wide of a 40 and only a 4.5” lift, you’re not going to have that much uptravel so IMO, you’re going to want some decent down travel. That should put you in the market for a thinner front DS.

But you could just run short travel shocks to save some coin on DS is the budget is tight.

I can change the front drive shaft and go with another shock, that’s not really an issue, if it makes more sense to go that route.

5.38 with diesel? I haven’t seen anyone running that yet with 40’s (not saying they’re not, though).
Sorry, missed that in the OP. That’d be overkill.
