Hey everyone, please forgive me if I overlooked this issue somewhere else, but I have been unable to locate a whistling noise that is EXTREMELY bothersome inside the cab of my truck. I had the passenger side door seal replaced and when that didn't work I had a technician drive it, but we still could not locate it in the time he had to look at it. I am not too excited about having the windshield replaced on a new truck on the off chance that the seal on it is bad, but if that is the issue then I'll definitely do it as the noise is really bad and uncomfortable to anyone in the truck. My best guess is it is coming from the right side of the cab, but I'm open to suggestions. Thanks.

Also check the piece of plastic on the passenger side window right next to the mirror. There have been a few people that had issues with that causing whistling as well as drain plugs causing it.

Update 2/26/21:

I dropped my car off at the dealership on Monday 2/22 and just got it back today 2/26. The dealership had to open up a case with Chrysler (Star?) and ended up troubleshooting the issue for over ten hours. They taped up every conceivable cause and eventually they were able to narrow it down to the front portion of the A Pillar on the passenger side. They filled the area with sealant (Teroson ms 5510) and it worked like a charm. No more whistling !!!

Thanks to everyone for all their advice and I hope my experience helps someone else if they find themselves in a similar situation.

regards

Phil

Do you have a photo showing where they used the sealant?

Sure.
I’ll post something up tomorrow. No problem. You can’t really see where they put it except for a thin line where the two pieces of metal meet, but basically it’s in the upright columns on each side of the windshield.

If you open the passenger door and look to your right where the right hand column supporting the windshield is towards the outside two pieces of metal meet and all you can see is a thin line of sealant between the metal pieces, but they basically filled the inside of that area to prevent wind or air coming up from the hood area into that cavity.

So here are the pics. Most of the pics just show the different sides of the A Pillar (The long red line shows the seam where you can see the sealant and in the last pic the point of the knife is a close up of the seam that is pretty much the only visible location of the sealant they put in. The way it was explained to me was that the cavity was not filled adequately with insulation from the factory and the air entered through the hood area. Once the cavity was filled the noise went away. I hope this helps.

Thanks!! It’s raining like crazy all day today so the investigation waits until tomorrow.

Will the dealerships fill in effect your ability to lay down the windshield
