how much equipment do you want? a willys with 8.4/alpine is only $2500 cheaper than a similarly specced out mojave. That's a lot of kit and a lot of comfort for $2500 (mojave has a smoother on-road and off-road suspension, and the bolstered seats make a noticable difference. I had a willys for 6 months before i got my mojave)

So do you want a stripper? Willys! Do you want a higher level of equipment? Mojave!
I dont know the current environment, but when I was deciding there were significant discounts available on my 80th and none on a Mojave (or Rubicon).
So the real world cost delta was pretty significant, over $12K if I recall for a like optioned truck.

Mojave suspension is better on rough roads, paved or dirt. At times, you may want or need the rear locker off road. Also, the AT3W tires are better for your use than the mud tires of the Willys.
Mojave can also come with the Wildpeak M/T.

i know i've already taken my bite at the apple here, but i'm back with a second thought. As someone who has owned both a willys (6 months) and a mojave (13 months and counting) i feel i'm in a relatively uncommon position here.

As a willys owner, i wished i had a mojave. As a mojave owner i wish for nothing (except a 5.7 swap).

I test drove a base truck, Willys, Rubicon and Mojave.

The Willys had the absolute worst road manners of all of them. Next was the Rubicon, next was the base truck on minivan tires, and finally the Mojave was the best.

If you don't care about a decent on-road ride, and the Willys ticks all your boxes then go for it. In my case, my wife wanted me to get it loaded up with all the comfort and safety options. Some of which weren't available on the Willys or S.

The road manner could probably be solved by getting new tires. Mine has the firestone MTs and they are loud as hell. It really doesn't handle bad but the tires are the worst part of this trim.

Sport S. Willys Mud Terrain you'll regret. Mojave, like all, are overkill & overpriced for what you want but you'll feel cooler ;)

If you like Mojave and money is your only concern, stay away from Willys, because every Mojave you see in the road will make you want to upgrade and you won’t enjoy your Willys at all. Focus on what you want and find a better financial plan and then enjoy your Mojave forever. Mojave has some features that you cannot get on other gladiators like stronger chassis. I love my 2021 Mojave in both on road and off roads.
The only thing that would make me get a Mojave over the Willys I have are the gray leather seats. But that can be easily changed if I find them for sale/trade from someone.

When I bought mine in 2021 I got a Willys for 35k (42k sticker) fairly loaded and all Mojaves were in the 50k range.

Mud tires aren't bad but they do wear pretty quickly.

I struggled with the same decision myself. Drove both and set them side by side at the dealer. Made my decsion before pulling back into the lot ... Ordered the Mojave!

Mojave for so many reasons.

I will tell you though, on longer roadtrips 6+ hours, you can't beat the it. Better ride quality and seats.

I ordered mine the way I wanted it, MSRP was $60k, but under invoice pricing for the win, 51k out the door.

I spec’ed out my Mojave and waited for it.
saved tons on things like non painted fenders , AT tires, skipped the 8.4, standard soft top, also I wanted the manual transmission. Ended up way less than any Mojave I found on a lot.
Only thing I don’t like is not having 5.7 or greater. Mind blowing suspension for a stock vehicle, even more so when you really over do it.

Anyway either will do what you want, personally I’m looking for a new engine option. I’m waiting impatiently to see about the 2024 models.

Every Gladiator I drove except for teh Mojave, the tail would step out a bit going around a certain turn that I live near. The compliance of the Mojave, even with AT tires is very good.

Behind the wheel of a Willys or Rubicon, you won’t for a moment forget that you’re driving a Jeep. Went with the JTR, because I wanted more.
