Jeep Gladiator Winch hook isolator? 16903265787104712819636855284150

This is a 20 year old plus synthetic winch line and the link I had on it. The line was removed from original winch and replaced a few years back. I then put it on a 6k short drum winch. Sun "UV" is a big killer for them. I do try to keep a cover on lines. But the eye on one can be re-tied when worn out or looking bad.

Mine is hooked to the shackle, but it has a line protector. UV light is what you really want protection from with the synthetic line.
this actually sounds like the most prudent option. I haven't been able to find the key word to find much selection though.

How do you have the pull strap set up?
Right now it is on the line below the brummel splice. The bottom strap loop is small enough that it won't come over the dive portion of the splice. If it fails I may weave it mid-splice to make it more secure but I don't want to go that route without more input from Yankum about the splice integrity.

input from Yankum about the splice integrity.
Ya, that would be my question as well. If you weave it in would it maybe loosen the splice in a meaningful way? I wondered if you had a cool solution. When I have looked at this method I have always wondered about getting it started unspooling. They tend to be kind of hard to get spinning and without a pull strap, you would be picking at it with your fingertips. You are the first person I have seen with a pull strap.

I like the grade 100 or 120 locking hook in 3/8" for its greater safety factor than the usual stock 3/8" hook in grade 43 with only a sheet metal latch. Lots of UV here, and the line would be dragging across rocks, etc. in the desert so I am using a steel line.

I went all in and got the Factor55 ProLink - E (Mojave orange of course!) and their little aluminum rope spool (got rid of the bent up steel thimble)

Got the 'E' because of the larger opening, it can connect either end of a shackle.

Nice choice PW45, I think they all have their features that’s why there are so many, I believe the style you have is safer reeling in, pretty hard to get your finger in between the Fairlead and that, compared to mine, not a big deal just hold it carefully and wind in.
