Wire routing help for roof rack light bar

I've searched and searched to no avail. How do you route the wire from the roof rack to the engine bay? I don't want to use one of those stick on windshield channels and really don't want to drill the roof. The light bar is an Ironman 4x4 50" LED. I saw this setup on this forum, but have not been able to find that post again. Thanks in advance!!

I've not done this but if you drop the windshield I am making an assumption you can run the wiring that way into the engine bay under the side cowls.

Yes, you can drop the windscreen and run your harness under that.

I ran my light bar harness down the inner channel of the ZROAODZ lightbar bracket, but I ran the sPOD harness under the windscreen. It's easy peasey.

I would run it from the roof rack back behind the cab, down between the bed/cab interface and then follow the passenger side frame rail up to the firewall and battery area.

I would NOT run anything from the roof by “dropping the windshield” because that necessitates violating that very nice seal there where the windshield meets the roof panels… no bueno.

This would work for a full rack, but I have a half rack that just cover the freedom panels. The wire would be exposed for a long way to get back there. Thanks for the reply!

I'm not following this. Don't you have to remove the freedom panels to drop the windshield? The rack mounts over the freedom panels. Can you show a picture of where the wire penetrates?

Yes, you remove the freedom panels first, and then there are 4 bolts that hold the window frame to the body. Remove those, swing the glass out (I used a strap to keep the glass about 10 inches away while I was working, and then once the wire is run where you want it, you close everything back up again.

Make sure the bolts are retightened correctly or you will get wind noise. So far I have driven in a blizzard, and two rain storms and there has been no water penetration. But, I did leave one of the bolts a little loose, and had a noise increase.

Tightened it up and there was no more issue.

And you can have the wire come in anywhere you like. The whole frame is open.
