I wasn't a huge fan of the media interface for the Toyota Tundra that I traded in for my Gladiator and preferred Android Auto. Some, but very few vehicles have wireless abilities. So I ordered the wireless Android Auto adapter on Indie GoGo. It arrived today after a few months!!

It is simple, small and set up was a breeze. I downloaded the app, plugged the adapter into the USB port in the center console and away I went. It connected in a flash, had an update pending and works very well.

Only problems that I've seen so far are:

1. The USB port is always hot, so I'm not sure I want to leave it plugged in all the time as I don't drive daily except my work weeks.
2. I need to see if there is a setting where the adapter won't keep looking for the receiver without timing out.
3. I like the U-Connect so well I would probably use it most of the time anyway ;)

Too bad a 3rd party had to develop what the manufacturer could probably do with ease.

Android Auto in most vehicles requires you to plug in the phone to USB for use. This allows it wirelessly. First world problem I know, but I didn't like having to keep a cable out all of the time. I have a protective case on my phone that is a bit of a pain to get open so this helps.

Ship in October... nothing else out there or coming sooner?

It was a few months for me and like everyone else he's been hit by chip shortages and obviously a much smaller player.

will this device let you cast/display unsupported android auto apps? Like GPS topo app like Gia and back country navigator?

I'm expecting mine pretty soon... Was supposed to be delivered in April but with their recent issues I got pushed back... But I should be in this current batch that's been going out. I'm glad to hear you like it so far. Looking forward to mine, I get tired of messing with the cord when I'm using Android Auto

This is great. I'm currently hating Android Auto because my wire must be trash. It never seems to work and so I can't charge my phone and use listen to music or use maps on my phone as it think AA is connected even though its not working properly.

The system seems to be very picky about the quality of the cables used to connect phones. I had a lot of trouble until I switched to the Anker high durability cables. I have the three foot red version of this cable, and it has worked quite well for over fifteen months. I use a Samsung Galaxy S8 Active, so you might need a newer (higher speed) version of the cable for your phone.

Cool to see. Mine was supposed to come in June, but now is looking like August. the good news is I will get a v2 of the hardware apparently. I also saw they are working on "something" for the always on usb ports in one of the updates.
