Hey! New to the Mojave world, just picked up a 2023! My question is, my brother topped off my power steering fluid with just a regular power steering fluid. He probably added an ounce or so. Should I flush it all out and put Mopar in or do you think since it was a small amount that it will be okay?

Uhg. Assuming it's already been run, I would probably flush the system asap. The two fluids are not compatible. Hopefully he didn't also top off your coolant with "regular" antifreeze too?

Yeah I was figuring I probably should, but yes, it has been ran since this happened. All is good with the coolant, I had purchased the Mopar coolant!

Maybe what he used is ok, the dealerships could use something other than mopar.

If you flush, it can be a sob to remove all of the air from the system, you may end up with a noisy pump, the hydraulic forklift sound.

I’ve heard flushing it is a pain in the ass! I know you aren’t suppose to mix fluids but I’m wondering since it was so little if it won’t be just fine. I can see if I flushed and filled it with something entirely different that would be an issue. Hard to say the right thing to do.

I bet the dealership would say it should be ok with that small amount. Give them a call and let us know what they say!

Your power steering unit will not know the difference. Just forget about it.

The dealership said without knowing if it was compatible to just have it flushed out!

That's your call. But just for the heck of it see what the specifications are on the container your brother use to top it off and compare it to what Mopar recommends.

That’s a good idea, I will do that first!
