Hmm, anyone could walk by and open the hood. That is when the dash cam with the park feature comes in handy.

If it fell off, it might be lodged down in there.

I had the oil fill cap ripped off from my 05LJ a few years ago. The jackass at a parts store then was trying to tell me they just fall off sometimes. 🙄 I had it "dummy corded" to the rod across the engine bay. The likelihood of it unscrewing is as likely as winning the lottery. Or that a mouse or rat happened to chew though the O2 sensor wires and the starter cable on a jeep in one night parked along with 3 other Jeeps after a few jackasses were trying to buy it. . . Hood lock installed. 🤔 Later experience. . . A dumbass followed me home then pulled up my driveway trying to buy my Wrangler Unlimited and or Scamp T.T, then said everything is for sale. Note: The jackass not even noticing gun and badge on me at the time. 🤨 Well not to some, about like the ass clowns sending out things with ridiculous lowball offers for my land.

FYI: Any comments might offend, I'm having a "good night" some shots of good bourbon, recovering from getting sick and 6 days after my mother's funeral, being informed of her passing 3 days before Thanksgiving.

Sorry for your loss, lost my Dad in Sept this year...anyway, dont know about gas engines but on the diesel is hard to get it off on purpose. It locks down hard and with the O-ring seal on it you almost have to pry it off. No way i could see it vibrating off.

I knew it was a shot in the dark but thought I would ask anyway.
I was wheeling in Colorado this year and had my cap go missing. It was about the last day and we stopped to air up and I opened the hood and it was gone. Still had plenty of oil but it was all over the hood and engine. No idea how many days it was missing. I think someone messed with it at the hotel the night before but never know. Could have been me not putting it on tight after oil change before the trip, but I'm skeptical of that. We did hit a lot of rocky and jarring trails so......... Lots of shaking and vibrating, but I'm still thinking someone took it. But why?

Rather odd issue.

Almost 30k on my '23 with numerous oil changes and no issues here.

Reminds me of the one time I failed to fully tighten and torque my lug nuts. Came to a stop sign and the nuts went tumbling down the street past me and the truck. I got lucky.........moral of the story....... every one is bound to fuck up and over look something. Just a matter of owning your fuck up; oil caps don't just disappear.......just saying. Been working on cars, trucks, Jeeps and military vehicles for 35 years.

Sorry for your loss….😔 I’m right there with ya…… My Dad passed away this past Saturday (2 days after Thanksgiving). Our family is scattered across multiple states and even into Canada. I’m an 8 hour drive away…. We chose not to go to see him before that time occurred (If we’d even make it) 🥲 The family is in limbo right now. Funeral plans for next spring and hopes we can get everyone together. 😕

Your Mom & my Dad are at peace….both in heaven partying it up with the rest of their families. I have no parents left…..😨
