EPA requirements for the FCA implementation of ESS are that it defaults to on each time the vehicle is started and there is only a temporary disable option.
Do you have documentation on that, not calling you a liar, just would like to see. Because other cars that have that option it stays off.

FCA uses ESS to raise the overall fleet MPG so that they can continue to produce lower MPG vehicles. To get the credit for using ESS, it has to re-enable at each startup and can only have a temporary disable option.

just doesn't make sense to me why it can stay disabled in other vehicles but not our Jeeps

The EPA has fleet MPG requirements for all vehicles a manufacturer produces that increase every year. Each manufacturer uses different methods to meet the requirements. The ability to disable ESS will eventually disappear. There will be more diesel, hybrid, and electric vehicles produced as manufacturers struggle to meet the requirements.

My ESS cycles when the AC is running? ... my system worked without issue for two years and then the AUX battery crapped out giving me the "Battery Charging". It provides so little benefit in terms of amp hr and such a PIA to access that I opted to delete the AUX and upgraded to an Odyssey main battery. System has worked without issue for months.

I really have no qualms with the ESS system as long as it works ... and we are off grid enough that I did not like the idea of the AUX potentially playing havoc with the main battery and some of the reported difficulty in jumping the system with a jump pack.

True, but it shouldn’t deactivate each time, should only have to press the button once and it stay off until it’s pressed again to turn back on.
Thats what the device I posted does... it "remembers". I get you are saying it should be that way from the factory.... but its not.

I didn't post about a tazer, but you are correct, they are not cheap, and they have to stay plugged in to "remember" your ESS setting. They also, interfere with your SGW, which is not an acceptable trade off for me.

It won't activate if AC/heat is on from what I experienced. I thought I read a while back that someone didn't have the auto start/stop module installed at the factory.
Sweet!! I live in Ohio, so mine might not ever work. We get all the seasons everyday, all year round.

Only if it's not caught up with the temperature you set. Mine works once it reaches the temperature I have selected either for heat or AC.

Having AC on in itself doesn't disable the ESS.
ONLY if it's not reached your desired temperature will it have any impact.
I run my HVAC in auto mode almost all the time........ if he uses the buttons (reads the book!) and displays the ESS status, it will tell him if it's not stopping due to CABIN TEMPERATURE heating/cooling.
Surely you jest. Read the book??? Why would I bother with that, when I have access to all these experts minds to pick? Read a book, why I never... And someone posted that the humor had left the thread.
