Be aware that the seals facing the driving direction are always (even in some expensive solutions) a week spot as the pressure from driving forces water into even the tightest seal.

Here is another build I found for a Tacoma that is made completely from scratch - looks great but I don't have most of my tools here so still pondering a simpler solution. I think the frame can be purchased anywhere as there are many on the market that are similar and don't need to be welded. And the wedge camper top honestly looks pretty easy. For the price of materials listed (this guy estimated 3 grand) it isn't unreasonable to pay double for a built out model like the Go Fast Camper. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/how-to-diy-wedge-camper.604686/

Ok guys. So I emailed just about everyone on the list of builders to see if there were any tent campers that someone paid the down payment but couldn’t pick. Or, if they knew of any used models or had any demos. The best find so far: ROVERKING has a Jeep Gladiator demo that they are willing to sell for a $1500 discount if you can travel to Calgary for pickup on September 7th. That is 5 hours away from where I am in Montana but the total price with Canadian taxes is right under 20 grand USD. This is for the highest level that is fully built out. I really, really wanted that model but it would leave me flat broke and I’m also saving up for a boat that I can hopefully get this fall.

There is also a Camp King coming in via freight to Rhino Industries in California on Sept. 7th. They quoted me a ship cost of about $1200 to get it to Montana (but then I would save $1000 on taxes). Or you can have it installed at either of their locations in California. They have lots of options they can do in house as well.

Last but not least, the cheapest and quickest build is at Twin Dogs. They are currently offering a special with both pop tops and wedges starting at $6000. They are very barebones. They offer customizations like window placement, marine carpet, and full wings but that’s about it. You can also have the exterior powder coated in a color of your choice but not the canvas. Lead time is currently 30 days and they don’t do shipping. The special is for the first 10 customers then the price increases by about $1000. I am the 3rd build on the list. The build does include tent windows unlike GCF where you have to pay extra. The have been very nice to work with but the website isn’t great in terms of navigation. Go to their Facebook or Instagram for better pics and vids. They are located near Salt Lake. Hope this helps someone!

I forgot to mention that there is also a Phoenix available for about $30,000 and weighs 1200 lbs. but you wouldn’t need to add anything to that. Complete with water, electrical, etc.

I did look at Harker and it looks great as it adds the extra space from the tailgate, but I go to places with a lot of wind and mosquitoes so I wasn’t a fan of how it attaches with the buttons. I’m sure it would work great for others, but not for me.

I have this one https://www.orudesignsusa.com/

It was about 4 weeks when I ordered , but they are now saying 6-8 weeks. They are local to me, and I spent a lot of time walking through it with them. Pretty cool guys and Great support.

I am obviously biased , but I really liked the hardsides . Lead time was great as well

Where in Montana are you? @montechie might have some insight for you on OVRLND Camper. He has one on his Gladiator.
