FedEx Lost Package: How Long for “Investigation?”

Has anyone experienced a package being lost in transit with FedEx? The tracking went from showing as a projected delivery of Wednesday (8/15) and then was updated with a “In Transit” notice with a big red status warning.

I called today, spoke with a real live helpful human (shocking these days), and after a brief hold…my information was taken and an investigation initiated. Not long after that call, I received a follow-up call from an equally helpful manager that took down some information, including what was in the box.

If anyone has run into this before, how long did it take for your investigation to be resolved? Interestingly enough…this is my second package stolen in transit with FedEx thIs year.?

p.s. Going ahead and throwing this out there, as it’ll probably result in me getting a follow-up call promptly with an update of: 1. We found it, or 2. No idea where it went. Don’t really care either way. I just want it resolved.

Are you the shipper or recipient?

The few times I had to make a claim with FedEx, usually took about a week for the trace and maybe a few days after that if there was an insurance claim if not found.

The value of the item may also expand that time.

They will trace with a recipient inquiry but if not found, it will be on the shipper to make any insurance claim for the value of item.

Edit: The package is officially lost. The vendor has another package out via FedEx. FedEx has lost two packages for me in the past three months, so we’ll see if this one makes it, lol.

I'm sorry for you, personally I never had this kind of problem
At the end of the day, this occasion was just a minor inconvenience. The vendor made it right.
It just reaffirms my positron to avoid FedEx shipping, when possible.

I have had way better luck with UPS vs FedEx.

I am surprised FedEx let you, the receiver, instigate an investigation.

Every time I've had an issue, I had to contact the shipper to have them instigate an investigation.

Took me two weeks for said track on a next day delivery of alternator from autozone. I will never shop at autozone anymore after being a customer for 30 years and former employee for 3 years.

For all I know…FedEx hung up with me, called the vendor, and that’s what initiated the investigation.
