Middle position is when you use the cables on both side of the tailgate to position gate half way down. There are black brackets down the side of the tailgate recess where you hook the cables to have the tailgate partially down.

I’ve had my jeep for 2.5 yrs and I didn’t know it would do that. As a matter of fact, I thought it was lame that it wasn’t engineered like that when most trucks are.

I know what you mean. Seems like I learn something new every week or two. So many design changes these days that aren't mentioned or just overlooked. Not to mention so much more that could be done that isn't.

And my sales person was horrible and didn’t know shit. I tried to be nice and humor him, but it was so painful I had to make a polite exit. Lol

My salesman was knowledgeable and was a jeeper himself. However, the sales manager was ready to go home. Picked mine up on a Saturday evening. Only ones there when I left was my salesman, new vehicle prep guy (had some things that needed cleanup on my Jeep) and the sales manager. So I gave in and let the mgr. go. I came back a couple of days later for more cleanup and final with the salesman.

I knew my guy didn’t know shit, but he was the one that greeted me after I walked in there after a bunch of people ignored me. Which surprised me, it’s usually the opposite. Anyway, I knew from the beginning that he knew basically nothing, but he was a nice, genuine guy, just not the sharpest tool in the shed. I worked for the same dealership group and did all my own paperwork because he was painfully slow. His sales managers didn’t know, because that’s a huge no no. I heard them congratulating him on doing it all right for once. ?

I’m loyal as long as you’re cool to me. They didn’t know where I worked till they ran my credit. Huge company.

Fortunately my guy knew his stuff. He'd evidently been there for some time. Since it was s Saturday, there weren't that many salesman around which surprised me a bit. Just so happened, the JT I went to see had just arrived. They had it on their web page but, he wasn't aware if it had even been delivered yet. The JT hadn't even been through prep yet. Only had 18 miles on it when I test drove it. They were the only dealer within a 100 miles that had a manual transmission in stock. After I agreed to take it, they prep guy ran it through kinda half handedly to make it ready. One thing I liked was no dealership sticker or badging was put on it, would've taken it off anyway.

It's good your guy was genuine and it seems like he was trying his best. Kinda sad the others had to congratulate him for getting everything right this time. Nice of you to do all that work for him and make him look good lol. My dealership has been really good to me since I purchased mine. Even went back about a month later and got the wife a cherokee through the same salesman.

I knew about it already from reading about these - but the dealer showed me back when I was shopping for my 2020 back in 2019. He knew these things very well.
I didn't like their sales tactics back then, but appreciated his time and knowledge as the reason to buy from them. Few know as much about what they sell as he does.

I need to get 20 sheets of drywall, mix of 5/8 and 1/2, total weight will be 1100lbs, assuming the weight is distributed across the two boards in the bed and the tailgate, I should be ok for a 3 mi trip, right?

Yes it is distributed. You'll be close so I'd watch the bumps, pavement dips and pot holes, but it should work out fine.
Be REALLY REALLY sure those cables are clear back in the holders - check the book. Some don't get the cables positioned properly as far in as they belong then gripe that something broke.

I learned that one the hard way when I first got the truck, didn't have them all the way in and snapped one of the plastic cable holders. Quadratec has them for like $10 or so but good point!
