you will find that with the gladiator as well, I have a stack of steering parts that will go in day one when my diesel rubicon arrives.
I actually had some parts waiting on me when I got home from this trip:

This box has the rear springs I needed for my 2" Mopar lift. I ordered it from the official Mopar site a month ago and paid for overnight shipping to get it well before this trip. They were 2 weeks late on the delivery so it arrived while I was gone (with regular ground shipping), and it showed up beat to shit. All I could do is laugh when I saw it after the whole experience yesterday.

My pipe dream was a 70 series Land Cruiser. The whole Covid thing really seemed to put a damper on the small shops that were importing those though.

We’ll see…maybe in a few years, they’ll start bringing in LC pick-ups. One of those would be sweet.
I looked at those too, they are so cool. My wife loves the unique older vehicles (because she doesn't have to work on them) and the LC is right there near the top of the list.

Went on a vacation about 10hrs away and the gladiator started having a heavy misfire about 3hrs from home on the way back. Currently sitting in a save-a-lot parking lot with my family and our expedition trailer waiting for a rescue. Guess I'll have to make a return trip later to collect the Jeep after it's fixed.
Man that’s unfortunate- my father in-laws misfire issue lead to a buy back….. hope yours is resolved quickly/easily.

I've never been a fan of chrysler and bought my first jeep in 2012 when they started using the pentastar and upgraded the interior. I've had 2 jk's and one jt and the worst problem I ever had was a radiator in the first jk had minute crack that would allow pressure to escape.

I have a coworker that bought a new Toyota 4 runner a couple years ago that had to have the front diff replaced with less than 5000 miles. No offloading or abnormal driving, just a bad diff.

My ex and I caught a new rav4 back in 2014 with AWD and the rear diff started howling with about 20-25k miles. We ended up trading it in.

I think jeep brand has come leaps and bounds from their earlier days in terms of reliability and design. It sucks when you get a bad one though.

My neighbor has been trying to lemon law a brand new Silverado that had a misfire issue from day 1, it's been at the dealer pretty much the whole year and is getting a complete engine replacement now. New vehicles seem like a crapshoot anymore

A lot of the reason I went with the gladiator was for the pentastar since it's a normal port injection motor and most people seem to agree it's a proven platform. I baby this thing, keeping it in the garage on a battery tender all the time and drive it every couple weeks to keep it from sitting too long. Did a break in oil change on the engine/diffs with an oil analysis and all that jazz. Like you said, sometimes you just get a bad one and there's nothing you can do about it.
