Finally got it mounted! Took a bit of finagling to get it lined up & to get enough spacer at the rear to ease the tailgate use. Still have to push/pull to open & close the back window but it is better after adding an additional spacers to the provided block at the tailgate. @SmartCap @OffroadAlliance.com

I left the back window tight. To open best I have to do tailgate first then back window. But I’m fine with that I also added seals around the tailgate so I have to push harder to squeeze those seals too.

Man, you guys are really getting my excitement up. Saw my first one mounted to a Gladiator in person on Saturday, they really do look killer.

The rains are here full force in the PNW now, it’ll be so nice to have my bed dry. Congrats on your cap!

SAD news - after aver 8 month wait, and the high of finally receiving the @SmartCap undamaged I started assembly in my garage. This long wait made me VERY cautious assembling, I really didn't want to create any issues.
I spent a couple hours applying a white vinyl wrap to the roof panel to help keep the interior cool in this Arizona climate before starting the actual assembly.

I was meticulous in following the installation guide instructions. I hand tighten everything and got the whole cap assembled, then started tightening to torque specifications. Sides, front and rear to each other first as step 6 describes.

When I got to the roof attachment only 4 of the 10 nuts will tighten, 6 just spin when I attempt to tighten them beyond my hand-tightening.

I am 100% certain I did not cross-threads etc when starting or hand-tightening these nuts. I didn't use power tools, I spent hours going slowly & re-checking instructions to ensure it would be assembled solid and correctly.
Now I don't want to install it on my JT with the roof not fully attached. Will it leak, will it vibrate and cause damage when offloading, is it even safe to put on the JT...all questions that I don't like the answer to that is in my head.

I don't know what can be done beyond tearing the whole thing apart and installing a new roof panel. I sent an email to RSI Support, but how many months will it take to resolve this?
NOT HAPPY this weekend.
Anyone else have an issue like this?

Is it like you can't get the nut to catch on the threads of the bolt?

I had that happen to me on several of them. I really just needed to jiggle and cajole everything a bit until the bolts caught. Once all were caught I tightened them down in the pattern shown in teh instructions.

If you could post a video here it would be helpful.

Got my Smartcap just a week after buying the JT, love it for a lot of reasons: shape, security, well built, roof tent is waiting for adventures with the family :)

Looks great on there, and love the bronze wheels, congrats! Getting one in a week, man, you have no idea how lucky you are, that’s an awesome feat.

It was with the roof bolts, which have 2.5mm allen heads in the roof rail.
I didn't realize they were there while working on the smartcap upside down on the floor and the bolts just kept spinning on me. Only 2 would tighten beyond hand-tight. I was able to prop it up and tighten the bolts while holding the allen (much easier with 2 people) enough to install the cap on the JT. After it was on the truck I torqued the nuts per instructions. That was just much easier than attempting to torque while on the ground.

Which load bars and mounts did you use to mount the batwing?
TIA
