Jeep engineers must live in Candyland to leave the hood completely open to anyone. Is anyone surprised by the amount of attempts? It's free pickings. Screw the tires, lifts, etc. Every first mod should be some type of hood lock
And have somebody smash the hood lock, damaging the hood? Tazer has a hood alarm in their live feature.

Considering the other 99% of Jeeps around you don't have said hood lock I have a feeling they'd just move onto the next

I should have known better than to expect something new, different, a different solution or a fix - yup, should have known it's like a discussion of oil or religion.
Jeep sucks, Jeep engineers suck, they don't know what the hell they are doing, marketing is out of their bloody minds if they believe for an instant ANY Jeep owner is ok without a locking hood. WTF were they thinking? ALL Jeep owners want locking hoods, isnt't that clear?

(never mind that owners make it easier...........)

This video popped up on my play list. Figure it is worth showing. It shows much of what the thief's are doing. What saved the JT is that the owner puts his key fobs in a faraday box. The thief's try to ping the fobs and can't get a response.

there really isn't anything accessibly under the hood. The Jeep has all the same features for safety as any other brand. They wouldn't need to get under the hood of any other car because the horn fuse is inside. What makes it easy to steal a Jeep is the synthetic oil and the eclectic steering assist.

I had a thought last night when i was reading this thread, so i figure I'll put it out here. Since there is no easy way to go back to a keyed ignition(of course they have their own issues?‍♂), and to address what happened in this particular case on the video, what if I/you/we/whomever it may concern takes the battery out of their key fob permanently?
It should stop transmitting the signal that is being intercepted without having to put the fob in a faraday cage to protect it. The vehicle will have to be unlocked manually with the key and started by holding the fob close to the start button(NFC or RFID?), which would/should disable the "key fob has left the vehicle" message(not sure about long term).
Did I miss anything? I feel like I'm missing something...

On a side note, I'm pretty sure i commented recently about or on wrapping a vehicle in tinfoil creating a different faraday cage..?.

I'd have a serious problem with that. My cats love things that crinkle and strive to be the first to shred anything that makes such a sound. My truck would look like it had rolled down the side of the walls of the Grand Canyon - going every which direction.
I'd be inviting big trouble.

Also, the first "accessory" thatbI ordered was locking hood latches!
Anyone that wants 'em can order them and in the grand scheme of things, spend very little time on the install.
More time is spent online telling Jeep what idiots they hire, and what moron could possibly send anything out without a hood lock these days - than is spent applying the simple, inexpensive solution.

Maybe it's on purpose?? It's probably one of the easiest "mods" that require minimal tools and time to accomplish.
