65 miles on 2023 Mojave and CEL

I purchased my 2023 Mojave yesterday; this is my 3rd Gladiator. I was on a short trip today (less than 10 miles one way) and on my way home I stopped at a 4-way stop, the Autostop shut the engine down as normal. When I took foot off brake nothing happened, I gave it a bit of gas and noticed the entire engine had shut down. I put it in park and restarted without an issue, but the check engine light is on now. Quick text to my salesman and they are picking it up tomorrow (was scheduled for window tint from them anyway). I'm a little worried about this. I can't really see a valid reason for a new vehicle with 65 miles on it to have a CEL. Anyone else have any experience like this?

I didn’t check. I didn’t want to do anything at all. Owned less than 24 hours and 65 miles, I’m not risking anything.

OK, all I got to add is I bought a then new 2018 Wrangler JL and in about 50 miles, the whole dash lit up like a Christmas tree to include the CEL, I nursed it back the same day to the dealership and the problem was they did not do the PDI correctly and take it fully 100% out of "Transport Mode" that involves initializing and build up the whole vehicle module network on the the various CAN and LIN BUS networks. Once they redid it, worked fine.

You may have another problem, but that was my similar issue.

Loose fuses in the fuse box is my guess. Not fully seates at factory, got jostled loose once rolling. Or dead battery/aux battery. Both pretty common issues. Neither are much to be concerned about.

So many electronics in new vehicles it would be hard to say what the problem is. FCA would like all FCA brand vehicles to come off the assembly line Golden. Then there is the real world. There is a valid reason you are having this problem; computer glitch, parts quality, error during assembly. Hopefully your dealer will find the problem and get you on the road without having to deal with CEL. From what I have seen here on the Forum most of this type of glitch on new vehicles are worked out quickly. Keep us posted as to the outcome.

Info as of now:
"it has to go over to Travis our transmission tech. For some reason what it's doing is trying to put itself in park when the engine shuts off. Not really sure why so its going to him. Bad part is it may take a couple of days. Doesn't seem to be like a mechanical issue with the truck but some sensor or computer is tripping out"

So im just in a holding pattern for now.

I can only imagine the frustration OP is feeling. Granted it could be anything, but the crazy amount of electronics in vehicles today (and the issues that go along with them) is one of the reasons I chose a Willys sport with manual transmission. While I realize that there is still a ton of electronic doo-dads that could go wrong, I’ll keep my fingers crossed ?? that they don’t. Hope this gets solved for you quickly OP.

Todays update:
"Just checked with the tech, they have ordered a valve body for the transmission, they have also opened a star case on it. a star case is basically getting directly with the top techs who design and build the vehicles. Hoping to have parts early next week to see if that will take care of it. This is the first time they have run across an issue like this."

Basically, they don't have a clue as to what the issue is, or how to fix it. I am in conversation with the sales manager, who has now involved the GM. I'm basically asking them to find me one identical and swap me out. A little frustrated, but they are communicating and working with me, so that makes it easier to deal with for now.

That is good to hear. Hopefully they have not submitted final paperwork to your financing institution or started getting your tags. That makes it pretty easy for them to walk back the deal like nothing happened and just absorb back your current JT to the dealership stock and it is their problem.
