I definitely want a JT Rubicon, but I don’t have one yet.

I happened to find a used 2021 that matches the specs I’m looking for, so I figured I’d go check it out if I could get it at a good price as opposed to ordering a new one. It has a lift and 37s on it. I understand that I’d be buying something that has some unknowns - like, I could not tell immediately what kind of lift is on it and the non-Jeep dealership (it’s a GM dealership) doesn’t know. But on the other hand, it matches what I’m looking for and I could be interested for the right price.

It’s located at a dealership farther away from my house, so not easy to pop back in to see it again during the work week.

It has both of the safety packages, but the park sensors didn’t work and the blind spot monitoring didn’t work. The mirrors had the blind spot monitoring lights in them, but the lights never came on when I drove it on the freeway and the park assist didn’t beep when I was backing up even though I backed it into a parking space twice so if it’s anything like my current RAM 1500, it probably should have beeped. The button to turn off the park sensors wasn’t “off.” There were no error messages on the Jeep that said anything about those systems not being available.

So, quick questions if anyone happens to know:

1. Can you tweak the safety system settings somewhere else, like in the uConnect menus?
2. Can something like a Tazer disable those?
3. If there was something wrong, wouldn’t I see an error message on the Jeep that says the park assist and blind spot monitoring is unavailable?

One thing I didn’t think to check is whether or not it had a Tazer and/or not sure how I’d know if it was reprogrammed somehow. TPMS was working fine with the larger tires and the speedometer was correct. I thought I had a good mental list going for things to look at and evaluate while I was test driving, but didn’t think about looking for something like a Tazer on it.

It also has the factory rear bumper that has the visible sensors on it (verified with the pictures in the listing).

I didn’t buy the Jeep but I’m curious to know what could be wrong or if I go to see it again, what I could look for. I walked away because of price, but the dealership reached out to me today and I mentioned this issue and one other minor issue, and they said they’d be willing to have the Jeep serviced and repaired if there are problems with the safety systems.

Thanks!

There is a button on the dash to turn off the park assist. There is also a setting in uconnect I believe for blind spot monitoring.

Thanks! The park assist button on the dash was definitely not “off” because I accidentally pressed it when I was looking for the button to turn off the automatic stop/start and then realized I pressed the wrong button and pressed it again to turn it back on. (Haha).

But good to know about uConnect. I downloaded a copy of the Owner’s manual for the 2021 Gladiator and I’m looking through it now.

Are the Park Assist Sensors still installed? Aftermarket bumpers may not support them. I suspect that might throw an error of some sort but don't know...

I think so, based on the picture of the bumper although I didn’t personally look at it myself when I test drove it. It’s the factory bumper. No errors. Thanks!
