I have to admit, I kinda knew the bed was made with thin material. But c'mon hahaha I also figured for the fucking price of these things, it would or should I say SHOULD hold up better than this!! After getting the truck new, I installed the lift and tires only to figure out that the 37" wouldn't really fit under the bed anymore without making a few tweaks. So I made my own mount at work so that the tire would sit in the bed! Looked great and worked great. With traveling to the armpit of Texas ( Midland-Odessa ) for work I wanted to make sure I had my spare. Fast forward to today and well, I can't really get mad because I'm the one who tried to save money by making my own shit but I also should have known better in the long run.... Does anyone know off the top of their if a body shop can just cut this strip out and weld in a new one?? Before y'all even say it "Why don't you just call a body shop??", Work is crazy for me so when I get time for myself, I prefer to sleep when on the road. Figured I would look on here to see if anyone has possibly made a similar mistake or accident. Or if anyone has any recommendations on another route to go. Thanks for time!!

Short answer- YES.
A good body man and welder can make it invisible.

In this picture, the entire lower section is a replacement panel, butt-welded to the rest of the quarter panel. Can you tell where the weld is?

Same weld inside the trunk -

I was hoping someone would say yes!!!! that's good welding there. now the next question is....... should I see if they can make the area with the bolt holes stronger? if they even can... which would take the welder cutting out both sides. I hate the very small what are they 4mm bolt holes? wouldn't mind going to 3/8's but I'm thinking for that size there will need to be reinforcement somewhere.

Yes a body shop can fix that it is going to be with them for a few days. rental may be covered by your insurance, for that matter the repairs may be.

Reinforcing could be done with some flat stock on the back side, accessed through the wheel well

Clayton rear track bar with the bend will fits 37s under the bed. I'm curious how you supported the tire?

it worked great and didn't take up too much of the already small bed. Still have enough room for a snap-on roll cab loaded with tools and other stuff I need to travel with. the only bummer was it made that one D-ring a bitch to get to.

I think an angle aluminum stock (3ft) mount it on the top railling and bolts it through the top and side might be stronger.

For the cost of repairing that bed, you may well be able to pick up a used one from a junkyard.

They are starting to appear and generally are not very expensive.
