My neighbor accidentally backed into my car and cracked one of my tail lights. Everything works just fine, except there is cosmetic damage to the light. My jeep has a safety group with proximity sensors.

My question is: are the tail light assemblies universal? Can I just order a non-sensor tail light and swap in the sensor, or do the non-sensor tail lights not have the mounting spot for the sensor?

You would think making one light would make sense.

I don’t believe there’s a spot for the sensor on halogen housings. It’s the reason you can’t get the safety package without getting led tails. They didn’t have enough room with their design to accommodate the sensor.

Mopar for the safety group requires specific Tail lights:

Driver LED: 68336583AF ($391.45)
Passenger LED: 68336582AF ($391.45)

Driver Blind Spot LED: 68338385AG ($680.79)
Passenger Blind Spot LED: 68338384AG ($680.79)

Now the true question is, would you be able to buy just the LED unit and swap over the blind spot detection unit to it?

I thought I saw a pair of oem leds on ebay. Looked like they had a blanking plate installed.

Right, one would have to assume that the price delta btwn LED and LED w/ blind spot is due to the blind spot module.

If memory serves the Oracle tails require swapping the proximity module from the OEM to the Oracle. So it is likely that Jeep has one LED tail design to reduce number of necessary parts.

My jeep has the LED taillights with the proximity sensor, I am wondering if I can purchase the NON-sensor LED taillight and swap the sensor in from my damaged LED light with the sensor.

Yeah, just don't get the halogens. If you stick with LED you should be fine.
