Just posting here for anyone running their steering re-enforcement so that they're aware, looks like the steer smarts system is suffering the same type of bearing failures that happen with the Synergy brace.

Installed mine alongside my 37' Yokohama Geolanders at 37,000 miles, now at 47,000. Noticed a squeal coming from the pit-man arm, though the bracket had come loose again. NOPE, looks like the bearing called it quits.

Dead.

Now I'm going to have to figure out what size bearing this is and have a new one pressed in.

@bleda2002 any chance the one I sent to you has any markings, or could you mic it for him?
I should be able to take some measurements. My original one also lasted about 12k miles before it decided it had had enough and started squeeling. Hopefully the one you sent me lasts longer

I recommend NTN or NSK brand bearings. There should be a bearing size stamped on the outer race ring.

I had issues with my Synergy brace bearing. They redesigned it with a better seal to keep crude out and sent me a new one for free. Might wanna try asking them. Maybe they’ll be as good as Sunergy. Good luck!

Thanks, I actually reached out to Yeti support and Chris was super helpful. The moment I asked about a warranty on the brace, he already knew that it was the bearing. Apparently they're aware of the issue and have been sending new ones while they look into a solution.

I've got a new one being sent out to me now, but I'm still going to look into other brands of bearings since I'm guessing the next one will probably kick the bucket in about 10k like the first, just in case they can't fix it. Gives me some time to look at least.

They sit in the brace at a slight angle from the maker, if that's what you're looking at.
Always thought that was a bit weird.
Yeah, that's just the color of the original bearing underneath the grease that's escaped from it's home, ran my finger over it to see if it was munched. Just all the grease is gone.

Good luck! The new Synergy bearing has a rubber gasket around it and seems to work well.

If you get solid info on a good replacement bearing post it back here for others going forward.
I have a hunch one free one is all they're going to do.
