I want to convert mine to tow a 46 CJ-2A at least in my dreams. Has someone done it?

If memory serves me correct…

Any trim outside of a Rubicon (gasser) or Sport S with max tow package, having an automatic trans and those with a diesel are rated for 6,000lbs.

Rubicon gasser with auto trans is rated for 7,000lbs.

Sport S with max tow option is 7,000lbs+.

Drive a manual trans? That’s 4,500lbs.

Why wouldn’t you be able to tow a vehicle that weighs 2,215lbs? Even with a trailer you should be well within your limits.

not a dually but could have dual skinny wheels and tires. Someone posted this in another thread recently

you CAN do whatever you want, with reasonable fab/mechanical skills it wouldn't be hard to bolt a dually axle in the rear, but it won't do a single thing to increase your legal payload capacity.

you could put a full 1-ton f450 drivetrain in a gladiator and box the entire frame, and your towing capacity is still exactly what it was from the factory. Overload the gladiator and get in a wreck and you're liable, insurance company won't care what "mods" you've done to increase towing....

Do whatever you want to a Gladiator but it will never have a larger "legal" tow and payload rating no matter what you do to it.
