First Jeep was an "88 XJ. It was my first wife's DD and my weekend project to keep it running.
I learned a lot about Jeeps by working on XJs. Mostly how to problem solve and use an angle grinder to its full potential lol. Had several over the years. Loved them all and regretted selling each one. Who knows, I might pick up another one someday.

For me it is hit or miss, but lately there's a whole lot of misses. The last two days I have had to drive into the valley (I live in AZ) for various business. I encountered at least 30 jeeps which I waved to every one, while only receiving 3 waves back. One from a "soccer mom" and two from guys who seemed to be in their 30s. Then this happened..... I was walking to my jeep and passed a beautiful black limited edition wrangler (with 2 ducks on the dash) I said beautiful jeep, I'm in the gladiator (one slot over 21 JTRD) and the remark was "oh" nothing more. I will continue to wave and compliment people on their jeeps because there is always hope and maybe it will brighten some ones day.
HAH! I actually got my first wave back on my first attempt at a wave, from a wrangler!!
Had a big smile on my face for awhile ?

I'm guessing you all do NOT ride a Haley or you would be used to not getting return waves ... the social elites are like that

Because waving at 500 people a day is stupid. Every 3rd vehicle I see is a Wrangler. It's not some special rare experience your sharing with another unique snowflake; it's possibly the most common and popular vehicle in America.

I'm not waving at you idiots.

Man can't let somebody else and their bad attitude be the reason your attitude suffers. At least that's what I work hard every day to tell myself for other reasons.

So I wave always. When I remember and am not zoned out that is. I have realized that in this particular area and generally speaking, about 80% wave or wave back to a vehicle that has anything more than stock. A lot of people wave before I get to it in my TJ though - so older jeeps of course still keeping it real.

I like the wave. Lots of 'new' jeep people couldn't care less - but to me, every time, it brings back the old days when things were a little simpler, people a little nicer, and Jeeps were a little more special.

Lots of other wavers here in Colorado, particularly around the military bases.

BUT, I do remember getting a little butthurt back in Texas when I would see a heavily modded gladiator several times a week driving around town and in my neighborhood. I would always wave and would NEVER get even a finger back :(

"Jeep Wave" is marketing. To make you feel special and part of a group.

Jeepers waving to jeepers has bee around far longer than Jeep claiming the ‘Jeep wave’.
