Thinking of upgrading to either the Insane Audio JL 4001 or the Heigh 10, but hesitant

Looking at upgrading to either radio, but it seems you need to have a really good internet connection to get the most out of either radio. Presently AT&T and WIFI are pretty bad in my area of Houston, so concerned that upgrading will only cause other issues. Is this a valid concern for those who've made the upgrade and are you happy with your choice?

Have either of those radios updated the design to incorporate wireless carplay capability?

I have had insane audio JL 3001 and now have the JL 4001
I think that it is one of the best radios for the jeep mainly because all the apps are on the radio NOT paired with your phone making it very easy to use
You can use your phone as a hot spot or do what I have done
I have a laptop hot spot permanently mounted in the jeep and as soon as I start the jeep it hooks up. I use a ZTE T-Mobile hot spot that I purchased on eBay for $25
I have found that when my phone is paired to to my wife's jeep with the factory 8.4 I do not get all the info on my map programs put I do on the JL 4001 because the JL 4001 is more like a tablet or computer
There tech support has been great and like all computer they are always working on soft ware updates
I have good cell reception put looking into WeBoost for when I am in the mountains
Hope this helps

Thanks for information. So if I used the mobile hotspot on my iPhone, I should be able to get most of what I need out of the JL4001? Will check out the WeBoost as an option as well.

Yes. Your phone will work as the hot spot
You can also receive and make call on the radio . Put I don't so I can't tell you how well it works
I have used my Garmin overlander GPS to answer calls only because it is easy to turn off if I don't want to talk though an open air device

Saw that and have been thinking of getting it off Ebay for less, but some of their sellers say you can't return it once it's shipped. Worried I had it installed and it doesn't work.

Not sure what you decided to do, but wanted to touch base with my experience with Insane Audio.

For the first two years they were great. Working with me when there was an issue with their canbus, walked me through a software glitch that required a new unit, etc.

Now I have an issue where the unit only plays music through the driver tweeter, and restarts itself every minute or so. After numerous one sided emails I'm about to give up on this unit, IA, and their "lifetime warranty" as it's a load of shit. I've been one of the biggest pushers of them on this forum. Now I regret that completely. I was excited for the 4001 and was planning on upgrading to it but now, I want nothing to do with them until they make things right.

I've been ignored for about 4 months now with my issue. I would be better off with no head unit as then I wouldn't need to watch the screen turn off and on every minute during my commute to/from work.

Just my .02.

After going back and forth with the guy who installed my systems, I decided on the Stinger unit. Was totally unsure about purchasing on Ebay especially with the no return policy. To much money to take a chance. Stinger had the complete set-up for $1199 so went with it. Time will tell.
