Looks like a totally cooked TJ/YJ clutch to me. Although it may have been over-reved causing the clutch lining to blow off.
Below is an example from a buddy of mine in our 4x4 club. To protect him from embarrassment we will just call him "Dan". Dan managed to do this while the engine is idling and going less than 20mph... backwards.
Here is the scenario: Dan didn't quite make it to the top of the sand dune at Oceano (Pismo), so to get out of the four holes he dug, he put it in 4 low, and backed out. Then to prevent a rollover, he proceeded to coast backward down the dune. The problem is although the clutch was pressed in and the engine was idling, Dan's TJ was still in reverse.
In reverse with a 4:1 transfer case, if you do the math that meant the transmission spun the clutch disc somewhere between 10-12,000 RPM!
This is the result and the reason we supply steel-backed linings on our discs.
