Did/ does using both speaker harness’ with separates divide the signal like a physical crossover would or did you sum the signal back into the crossover for the separates?

I’m not actually installing separates, but going with a 6x9 coaxial.

I’m very comfortable clipping the tweeter input from the speaker terminal and making another harness to utilize both signals.

Unless it’s a waste of time and I should just add the two signals together into the single speaker terminal. Don’t know if it will short out the factory amp or not.

Thoughts? Would love to hear some actual experience with this before I call Crutchfield support.

Yes, for the Alpine "premium" sound system, the two harnesses on each side of the soundbar are split between high and low frequencies. I'm not sure where on the spectrum the split occurs. The cross over is located somewhere upstream of the speakers, likely under the dash and integrated into the amp. Hopefully, other fourm members who upgraded their Alpine system to 6x9 can chime in how they did it. I went with the Alpine SPV-65-JLT, which has two separate speakers and a crossover (which I bypassed). This allowed me to use the factory crossover built into the truck. I would hold off on combining the two signals. The folks at Crutchfield should be able to help. Good luck.

I just installed infinity Reference separates into my sound bar last week. The instructions from Crutchfield sus to not install the supplied crossover as the Alpine system already separates the sound. Speakers sound great!

As mentioned above, it is an active crossover setup out of the factory amp — leave the tweeter connection for a tweeter and the mid connection for a mid and you’ll be good to go ?

Do you happen to have a part number or link? I was just going to look for this since I am throwing the Infinity Reference REF-3032CFX into my dash. Thanks!
