I was doing my normal search and came across this Gladiator.....

https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/...oTempest&utm_medium=TRP&utm_campaign=atempest

I looked at the Carfax....hmmmm....on 08/14/23 it had the entire fuel system replaced including the fuel pump at Tri-Lakes Jeep in Branson.

I called.....the service person looked up the vehicle....yes the fuel pump was replaced with OEM Mopar fuel pump and everything in the fuel system is new.

No idea how they got the parts but he said the Gladiator came in on 08/09/23 and left 08/14/23 with all new stuff.

Very interesting. Heck I'm considering buying it if I can get a good deal on it, not super close to me but has all the options I want.

Any input on this particular Gladiator and seriously just passing on the info about the fuel pump.

Ummmm....look at the Carfax and dealership that is selling it....it is a real vehicle....and I called the dealership that did the repairs and spoke with one of the service advisors about this specific vehicle based on the VIN.

The monroney is on the Carfax.

What is there to not trust. The information was incorrectly enterted by the selling dealership but the vehicle is real....so is the repair.

Here......here is the vehicle on the actual dealership website:

Pictures suggest not a manual. They never take a clear picture of the shift lever but the side shot shows the safety detent for an auto. The dash display also shows “P” for park. Don’t think that the manual would show “P” in park, since there is no park in a manual.

Just being a bit cynical here, never trust what a dealership says and never assume sales people know *anything* about what they are talking about. I’ve personally seen so much BS come out of their mouths just because they can’t seem to say they don’t know the answer.

Yes that's what all the info stated in the monroney and on the actual dealership website....I think it was entered incorrectly when they were entering on the other sites.

Regardless....I'm just shocked by the fuel pump.....I'm assuming it would be the updated one....didn't realize it was available but apparently someone else here on the forum has got one from a dealership.

After more studying....looks like this Gladiator sat on the lot for 8 months....was sold in April of this year and failed in August. Owner probably was not pleased by a failure after 4 months of ownership.

I don’t know how much I would trust a report that states it is a diesel with manual transmission as they never built one. Just food for thought.
The first link the OP put up wasn't from the dealership, it's a 3rd party that makes money if you buy it through their site. They probably just threw canned JT info up there and didn't bother getting the true info.

Maybe I should show you some info I found out there where a state consumer protection agency, among other organizations and individuals, looked into "how accurate is the information in carfax"

Don't know how old you are but do you recall the "trust but verify" a certain person said back in the 1980s?
yeah
Those reports often don't contain everything (garbage in, garbage posted, garbage out) or it can be inaccurate - it's a tech who enters if IF anything even actually gets entered and it's one of those things - if you really trust it and believe it can't be wrong - well, best of luck to you.
Not only wrong, but they listed vehicles as having had massive repairs when it was only a garage ding - in their own garage, or missed massive repairs because not all shops participate, there's no rule that says info has to be entered, it's entered by ordinary people if it's entered, and sometimes things are, well, summarized "yeah, we did a great job, everything is brand new". They washed the parts, looks good, put them back.
I'd want to see the repair orders.

Like I said - carfax has mistakes - they miss massive problems at times, or make tiny things look like massive problems, or stuff is never even entered. There's no law, no rule, and only participating shops enter things.

I'd look at another reporting agency myself - get another opinion from another group. Carfax ain't the only one in that business and sometimes reports disagree. That was another finding of the groups that did their research - sometimes you get 2 very different reports about the same vehicle.

And the info I see says the updated pump still isn't out there, the old one is still in some places and still being sold......... look for dust on the box, mfgr date!!

Attached is the original Window Sticker, pretty loaded for a Sport S.

Link to the actual dealership listing: https://www.jimmygraychevy.com/used/Jeep/2022-Jeep-Gladiator--fa7646810a0e0a930374c9da7c9475e5.htm

Looks like a decent deal if you want to get into a diesel.
I'd find the part number and mfgr date of that fuel pump. I haven't seen anyone that has proven they got the newer design.
I'm not so sure I'd jump without looking.
If they waved a wand and by magic beat everyone else in line and got the new design, current date of manufacture, then cool, good to go, should be no problems, but............

I’d like to know the actual failure rate. Of these pumps, many on the forum have been vocal about issues, but the number of people on this forum vs units sold it quite a difference. I know this is also a part issued across multiple manufacturers, is the number of affected units per capita more to make us think the ecodiesel has something different that makes it prone to failure?

So I will elaborate......I called the Jeep dealership in Branson that did the repairs. I spoke with a service advisor there....he pulled up the vehicle based on the VIN. He looked through it and stated, "wow, I was not involved with this vehicle but they really did a number here. They replaced the fuel pump, cleaned the tank, replaced the fuel lines, the rails, the injectors and the fuel pump." I said the entire system basically. He replied "yes, everything." I said was the fuel pump a mopar fuel pump. He said " the work orders state everything was mopar."

I did not ask what the part numbers were because he was busy at the time. But that begs the question....can you get any other fuel pump than what would be the new updated one, but to your point...I do not know if it is the updated one....and yes I would verify that before I moved forward on this particular gladiator. The advisor said it took 9 days to get the parts in, which doesn't mean anything other than the fact that all the parts were ordered in. He doesn't have any reason to fabricate a story because the dealership that did the repairs is not the dealership selling the vehicle.

Additionally I don't think Carfax is the bible....which is why I called the dealership that did the repairs to verify the information.

In the end this vehicle is a distance from me and would have to make real good sense for me to travel to get it. More than anything I was looking to see if the previous owner was here....more than likely not and passing on the info about the fuel pump....if someone were so inclinded they too could call this particular dealership to see what the part number was on the fuel pump.

Basically I was trying to help and get information....not start a discussion about the validity of Carfax and online vehicle listing sites.

According to the NHTSA's website, the recall is still open for the HPFP.

My guess is the owner had it replaced, dealership received the same pump, replaced it and they took whatever they could get on a trade-in and ran.

It could either be an original pump that runs for 1,000,000 without issue or blow up in 20 miles. It is kind of a gamble, but really I digress back to my original question... what's the actual failure rate and what is the failure rate for those that are replaced with the same part, meaning repeat repairs? I know there are a few folks on the forum who have had multiple pumps replaced.
