I have a 21 Willy's Gladiator that developed a tick. Sure enough it needs new rocker arms and cam shafts. This is covered by warranty which is great but, because of the strike no parts are being sent out. I understand the need for fair pay and don't really want to take a side on the strike. I just want my Jeep back... Is anyone else having similar troubles???

My ‘20 is sitting at the dealer waiting for a fuel pump. Like you, my repair is also covered under warranty but the dealership isn’t sure when the pump will arrive. I’ve also been waiting for about 2 months now on the gearbox recall to be performed.

Unfortunately, yours is going to be a story oft-repeated as this stretches on longer and longer. and not just on the stellantis NA side. GMs and Fords will go through the same issues. Parts backups will slow down dealership service depts, then when the parts come back in their backlog of vehicles needing work will come flooding in and the line for vehicles needing repairs will grow.

You can't bump exec pay by 40% and then tell the rank and file that they don't deserve the same pay increase and not have the rank and file remind you that the lights stay on when the CEO doesn't show up, but everything shuts down when the workers don't.

I just had my 4th 8 speed transmission installed BUT when the truck was in the whole week before the strike getting diagnosed and the warranty replacement was approved one day before the strike, their system was down and they could not see where a transmission was. The SA told me there is currently a waiting list up here in Canada for this transmission and because of the looming strike “don’t be surprised if I have to wait 8 months for it”.

The next day during my lunch break, I just picked up the phone and called another dealership parts department and asked for a transmission and gave him my VIN #. He was quiet for about 30 seconds then to his amazement, he said they had one upstairs! Sure enough, sitting on their floor in the back of the parts storage was a complete new OEM transmission they had to sell so my dealership bought it and I had it installed a couple days later.

This happened to someone else up in Edmonton a year or so ago when my second transmission crapped out at just 500 kms and my dealership grabbed the third one right away. A member here had posted a complaint that he needed an 8 speed transmission and was told he had a very long wait to get one.

I PM’d him and got some info and called the parts department in Calgary and within 1.5 minutes they had a ping on 2 transmissions in Canada. I called them both and one was spoken for and the other was on the shelf in Toronto for sale. I called the guy in Edmonton with the info and he contacted and confirmed the transmission was there and his dealership then bought it and had it shipped right away.

The point here is to be pro active and start calling independent dealership parts departments for the components you need. These don’t always get posted into the national system but sometimes they are and the parts guy also needs to know how to read the system to find it.

I’d eat it and just take it somewhere else at this point, dealer will probably mess up install anyway
So you could get it fixed, with OEM parts, under OEM warranty, for free...

OR

You could take it elsewhere, use 3rd party parts, not have them covered under warranty, and pay for all your own repairs.

Yes the waiting game sucks, but I don't see the benefit of going somewhere else.

It's less about executive cash pay. That's easy to point to but they aren't striking over $20m or $25m. It's symbolic.

The significantly larger issue is stock buy backs. GM spent $2.5B, Stellantis $1.6B, and Ford $434M. The manufacturers had the cash on hand from record profits and instead of using it on workers they used it on stock purchases. That only helps people who eventually get those as options (executives) or people who have a lot of money in the stocks (wealthy).

Am I the only one not holding my breath?? All of the low sales #’s say they still have plenty of 23 inventory sitting on lots, therefore this strike can continue to ride on…. My opinion but…..

It won't be over until it really starts to hurt Stellantis. And once it is over, it will take months to get caught up and back to normal.

Which, oddly enough, was the UAW union. They had a seat at the table. And they wanted out. So now they're upset they got out?

There's a lot of legitimate stuff in the complaints, but there's also a lot of smoke and mirrors like this in there too. Makes it a huge untrustworthy mess from both sides.
