So what do yall think? Take it for $52K or walk?
I just checked and I’d have to commit to that crap APR for 3 months.
If it has the options you want, I would do it. That’s a really good discount considering the MSRP.

First post here; thanks for the great forum!
I just bought a diesel JT in Florida list was $67, got it at $54 and 5.99% for 36 months. 800 FICO and $10 down.

Looked at this very vehicle in February, and they wouldn’t budge off sticker then. It was my luck it got caught up in the whole fuel pump recall and they couldn’t sell it until last week. I “happened by” and walked in to ask if they were ready to sell…. Boy were they!

If you are looking at the Sarge Green Mojave at St. Helens Auto Center, I can't believe the MSRP on that one and it doesn't have the LED light group. To me that is a deal breaker.

It also does not have a color matched top. Not truly loaded for 70K MSRP. Wow.

Throwing this out there: one of the main reasons why I didn't pull the trigger on a Mojave this time last year, aside from shitty interest rates ($10K down, 800 FICO and 7.26% was the best you could give me?) was buried in the dealer's finance contract was a hard clause requiring that I not refi it or pay it off before 6 months lapsed. My credit union at the time was 3.99%. My plan was to buy it, get all the discounts I could financing through the dealer then immediately refi at the lower rate.

The reason they had this-- if you don't hold the loan for 6 months, the financing company can and will charge back to the dealer the commission they received in the first place. Dealers get paid the way other loan officers do- they get a piece of the total amortized value of the loan as a commission.

Shitty practice but I wasn't having any of it.
Had the same agreement recently on the one I bought, but there isn't anything the dealer can do if you refinance sooner. I played their game, got the big discount, then refinanced after 1 payment.

Even with the discounts these are eye watering prices. With the interest the payments must be over $700-$800 a month.

I guess I need to keep saving!

We worked out 18 % off MSRP. We wanted a bit more, but it was what the wife wanted with options, steel grey leather and exterior color, and it was local. This was 5 weeks back. What do you do?
Keep the old car and get robbed at the dealer? DIY? Dealerships of all makes have doubled or tripled repair costs and increased the outhouse load of mendacity to a new level as a response to slow sales. Do you go for a Tahoe at 85k or higher? Buy a Kia at 50-60k?

I don’t know how normal people are financing new cars these days lol. I’m mad at my $500 a month payment so I can’t even imagine close to $1,000 a month for a vehicle. Hell you could probably buy some decent land out in the sticks for that price.

Well, Im back. Ended up not pulling the trigger 2 years ago but intend to now. Maybe.

There is a local dealer offering a $70K Mojave for $54,151. After a quick call, I said Id like to get it to $50K w/ my FCA discount included and he countered at $52K... but the APR even on my excellent credit is over 8%! He said if I come visit he'll "guarantee" his manager put together a good deal. I mentioned wiggle room on free oil changes, parts, etc but he ignored this. If I don't finance through them, he said the deal won't be as good

Ive seen some dealer ads in other states knocking off $20K, and given the fact that all 5 Jeep dealers within spitting distance have their lots jammed full of 2023's of everything, especially Gladiators, I feel like I should be able to get it for $50K. Honestly because of
  • the high APR,
  • the fact that in 2023 the damn thing doesn't even have automatic/sonar cruise control and side airbags,
  • two Gladiators I went to test drive had dead batteries,
  • these things have been sitting on lots

That I should be able to get less than $50K even. Im also feeling that the dealerships had their time making hand-over-fist with markups; now it's our turn.

Think I can get them lower than $50K? What are folks seeing locally?
There are dealers out there right now doing the 15% off of MSRP AND adding another 15% off with their own discount, so 30% off right there. Interest rates are a killer with about 7.5% 72 months best you can do but... Stellantis just changed the incentives two days ago... Where I live they sell them as fast as they can so they actually reduced incentives in my area to 10% off BUT, you can get the "subvented" rates... So, in the right place, you can get 30% off any 23 Gladiator AND the Chrysler Capital rate of 6.9% for 72 months. This is about the best you can get right now... And if you are lucky you live in a state without Sales Tax... like mine, but then again they just reduced my 15% off down to 10%. Just google Jeep incentives, go to the JEEP official site and put your zip code in.

The price is based on the build, not the options ppl think should be there.

OP that sure is a nice price! We don't see discounts anywhere near that percentage in Canada. Go for it before you miss it!

Just FYI, from a couple comments I saw. You don't go in saying you are going to pay cash right up front. I always say I'd love to finance as long as I can get decent rates. Then I get them down to where I want, and if not, I leave (they always call back and agree to my offer). I then just do whatever I want for financing or paying cash or whatever. There is nothing in the deal that says I have to finance with whoever they want.

As for the OP, you need to be comfortable with the deal, so don't do it unless you are. I kind of feel sorry for you if you have to finance. I have 2 payments left on my 0% loan and will probably have to pay cash the next time I need a truck....sad...

I think $52k you're winning and refinance later. I did similar on my '21 but obviously times were different then with higher markups and lower interest rates. I refinanced 5 months later at 1.3% lower apr.
I will tell you what. People too will tell you things are listed for cheaper online in other areas but once you step in the dealers the price goes up. Seen that tactic many times over here in California for me personally and also friends but just with gladiator but other niche vehicles. Just saying the under $50k prices aren't always true.
My other thinking for you also getting something now... Take advantage of the '23 pricing and also enjoy the truck now and take advantage of black Friday sales on parts.
I'm all about being smart with getting a good deal but there is always a "value" to me of driving it today versus waiting for tomorrow. I've had two great years so far of fun in the sand and family memories. No amount of money can substitute that.
Hope you have fun with your new Gladiator.

:swear: Nope, I've been shopping land in Maine and have been looking for over a year. Let's just say that prices are absolutely insane in the real estate market too! Even in backwoods Maine. People just are spending money like drunken sailors still apparently. It used to be around $1K /acre but now it's triple that if not more.

Anyway, to the OP. If it's what you want and can afford it I'd say go for it. Sounds like a decent discount to me.

Where in Maine? Any land in southern or up the coast has pretty much doubled or more since 2016.

I live in Maryland but have family still in Maine

Ha, no kidding. I've kinda got this 4 to 5 hour driving limit requirement from my place which puts me in the Rangeley lake region and South. We were camping this Summer at Mt. Blue state park. Man, what a beautiful spot. The stars at night in Maine are something else. My son was just floored at the stars. I'm not looking at the coast, I prefer the mountains........at least in Maine. The coastal waters are too damn cold to enjoy LOL, even in the summer and I've already got access to the coast here in RI.

Where's your family at?

So, I bought my Gladiator, did not like the interest rate (around 6.5% at the time) but got a 100K warranty program and the best deal they offered, which was also contingent on if I finance through them.

Two days later, went to my Credit Union and refinanced it at 4.49%. Last I checked they were still offering under 5%.
