No hate from here. When I bought my Jeep I knew our time together would be limited.
It's a very high maintenance vehicle, but also a very fun one to own and use.
I was eyeing the Colorado and Canyon, but the Tacoma has me holding off for a bit longer before I decide.
Might be another year or two, but our days together are definitely limited.

That’s a beautiful truck. I always liked them , even in the beginning when people called the front end hideous.

I don’t like em enough to trade my Jeep though. Few trucks have more allure to me…Ram 1500/2500 Rebel, Power Wagon, F-250 Tremor….all out of my price range which dwindles my interest a little more lol.

Ya I been down that road, vettes are an exception to the rule, not even made near other Chevy for a reason.... 01 Z06 manual ran great at Willow Springs which is down the street...

Gotta get what fits your needs. Personally I want a full size 4x4 truck with crew cab and 8ft bed that can tow 30K pounds, is as small as a 2-door Wrangler so I can park it in the city and in parking garages and tight lots, and has a bed that is a little lower than waist height for easy loading and unloading but has a lot of ground clearance for off roading. When i find such a thing I'm buying it immediately.

(The Gladiator fits about dead center in the middle of that specification)

Let me say I love my Gladiator, in August we moved my 90 year old mother in with us. Due to her health issues may have to look at a replacement. Don't want to but may have to.

I’m in that 10% but I agree with you overall.

However, I’ve only taken the roof off once and it was just to install the hothead headliners. I have never taken the doors off (coming up on 3 years of ownership).

It is a wonderful experience with the doors off, try it one day! Maybe not anytime soon though LOL.

I use my Jeep for Jeep things - beach, getting through narrow paths, dirt, going topless, etc. no rock crawling for me though. I use the bed maybe 4 or 5 times a month. I’d never use it for full size truck stuff, to which I’d never use a full size truck for Jeep stuff. I find it much easier to DIY on a Jeep as well.

Either way, I’ve heard it all before on reasons people sell, blah blah, but they always regret it and usually come back. Maybe since OP has a JK, it will be different though.

If DW is chasing people away from Jeep then so be it . DW is one of the easiest things to fix and most enjoyable as it usually means upgrades not just plain replacement parts . Couldn't own a vehicle if I could not work on it . I traded my Ram in for one of my latest addition as I was bored just driving it and not modding it anymore , Jeeps are never done so being retired I figured I had better keep two

I'm one of the biggest Jeep fans you'll find, having owned 17 in the last 25 years between the wife and I. For your needs a full sized truck is definitely a better fit. Similar fuel economy, more space, better on road ride, better towing, etc. Personally I'd go back to a Ram over a Chevy but to each his own. The JL and JT make major compromises for road only or even road mostly vehicles because of what makes them great off road. Solid front axles offer no benefit on road. The narrow body, wide fender design makes them great for navigating tight trails, but that means you're left with a small interior compared to the track width of the vehicle. Anyone considering even moderate off roading I'll make the case for a JL/JT. If you're looking for removable top and doors again, I'd argue Jeep over bronco all day (the only other option with those criteria). If it's a road vehicle, I'd go grand cherokee over JL and Ram over JT as they both offer numerous advantages in a similar price range.

I was under the assumption not great for work purposes you were referring to capability (towing or bed capacity). To your point. Once while in Miami, I did see a priest with a collar and all driving a new topless corvette redlining with a lic plate that read (Liv1nce) and yes he pulled up to the church. So I get it, just curious. What do you mean by send the right message?
