I'm looking at getting a Gladiator because of the incentives I see you are getting an 8.4 screen on that 1500. I prefer them and like the 23 Gladiator over the 24's partially because of that. You are going to love the rear space in that truck cab. I have a 2500 and miss the gen 4 1500 rear space or rather the big dogs do... I'm replacing an 18 Renegade as a daily driver and will be taking the rear seats out for the dogs. After hemming and hawing for a LONG time I have decided to move forward with buying a full sized truck...just to say it now THIS IS NOT THE LAST JEEP I WILL EVER OWN.
Up until very recently I have had to become more comfortable with the idea of keeping my jt essentially until it falls apart...which given how I take care of it would probably not be for another 100k miles. Knowing full well I have used it hard for towing a 6k lbs trailer thousands of miles and would probably have some expensive repairs or replacements coming up soon. But my family isnt getting any smaller and i have been floating right at or danger close to my max payload for months now. And the reality is that its not feasible to keep taking my jt and my wifes jlu on all of our camping trips just to spread the load...though we will probably still need to when we camp in march/apr/nov sicne the dogs come and it will be too cold for long rides in the bed with just a pop up cover on. And I dont want to put my family in danger by intentionally towing outside of the trucks capabilities.
I have had a VA disability claim pending for a couple years, waiting to be seen by a judge since the VA denied me at first. The judge approved my claim and i got a very large back pay check. For the first time in probably a decade I am credit card debt free and I can afford to make a sizeable down payment on the new truck to keep the payment less than $500/month. All while not blowing the entire back pay check. (comical phrasing since it was a back injury claim)
I started searching and working with my local dealer. The same dealer ive gotten nearly every vehicle ive bought since I started driving. Ultimately they were able to find the Ram I have in the link and will be getting it this saturday. Ill hear back from my credit union on monday and will likely pull the trigger once I get the nod from them.
It has the 3.92s with the 5'7" bed, hemi V8 with the eTorque, and tow package I wanted. So it can pull 11k ish pounds and has a payload of 1770lbs according tot he B pillar sticker. The additional 250lbs of payload will let this be the long term towing truck for us! It has other goodies but the high notes are the towing stuff I wanted.

I will %100 miss my JT. I truly love this truck and have been blown away with what I have been able to do with it. I have no doubt I will end up finding a less than $8k wrangler as a project jeep to scratch the itch, while I also maintain my wife's JLU.
Ill still lurk here on the forums to helo folks out with what I have learned from the JT and to enjoy the community. Needless to say I will have stuff going up for sale soon so when you see the vultures start circling, youll know why.
what am I missing here? Family of 5 here too...wife and 3 kids 10 13 and 15. they're fine in back....never complain. Yes I obviously know a full size is bigger....so is a motorhome.Don't blame you, with my 3 kids I miss my F150's pretty much every time I'm in the JT unless the top and doors or off. lol
I would likely trade it in if the dealers would give me what it was worth a year ago, but with my current 1% interest rate, I'm likely just gonna keep it.
Endorsed. Gren has been a contributing, awesome member. He can announce.4 pages of good tidings begs to differ. letting a community know of a change is just the nice thing to do. I for one choose not to ghost a group im involved in ?
Well, clearly you understand what I was getting at. You could also transport everyone in a rickshaw, doesn't mean it's the best at it.what am I missing here? Hahaha funny thing is ive been trying to silently lurk and read there before talking too much and MAN some of those folks really think i need a full in big rig to pull a 6k camper. Im sure they’ll LOVE when i start posting pics of the Jt with it hahaSad to see you go! You are one of the reasons I felt comfortable pulling the trigger on moving from the Ram to the Gladiator. I loved my Ram, but, it couldn't do the same off road stuff, and, it wasn't a convertible! The 5.7 with the eTorque is awesome... The eTorque is just enough for take off, and, really makes the take off with a trailer feel normal as opposed to being a turtle! Be carefull about your payloads still... that cabin is super spacious, and if your is anything like my family, they will try to fill it. And don't worry, on the Ram Forums, you will still find plenty of people to tell you that there is no way you should be pulling that big of a trailer with just a 1500!
For me its less about “can they fit” and more about how they fit. My family fit happily in the JT. We were just pushing the limits with the payload and towing. The ram, despite not being what i want to be in, will do everything we need and do it safely. Thats truly the most important part for me, having the family safe as we travel with the camper. ?what am I missing here?
