I presume you did this? Where/ which circuit did you interrupt?
No, I have not done this yet. Was talking in the abstract.

If I was to entertain this, probably would look at the push button (Keyless Ignition Node Module) and interrupt the Ignition Switch Position Signal circuit.

That would keep everything in the cabin interior. Interrupting other circuits like the fuel pump, ignition or other signals going to the PCM would mean running wires from inside the interior cabin to the engine bay and adds more complication and risk in my opinion.

Thats what I saw recommended in this thread here too.

I actually liked this guys idea of having a tee splice harness made up , then it would be easy to flip back to "stock" if need be. I'm surprised this solution isn't more commonly/commercially available.

Get gap insurance every time you buy a new vehicle, and most times when you buy a used one.

I'll disagree with this. Don't pay more than the stupid thing is worth is the better choice. gap pays the lender not you. Same thing with PMI. If you need PMI on your mortgage, you shouldn't be buying that property.

How easy is it to clone the key?

You don't need to. it takes moments to plug in a scan tool into the can bus port behind the glove box and create a new fob for modern cars. Seconds if you do it all the time.

That's a brilliant system isn't it.
I wonder which overeducated idiot thought that one up.

Would be nice if they just put a simple lock bock around the plug. Use the physical car key to gain access.

Good thing a jeep could never drive around those...
It would deter a tow truck from rolling up, scooping up a vehicle, and driving off...

All the electronic countermeasures are fine and dandy, but the steering on these JT's does not lock, and a quick pull back on the transfer-case lever frees it up to roll...

She is a beauty. I am really sorry to hear that this has happened to you, and thank you for posting to alert others. My uncle was head of the Grand Theft Auto in our Puget Sound area when I had my Mazda stolen. He said I had a really good chance of recovery, because of the triangulation of the law enforcement databases. 3-days later it was found in Portland. Probably a gang-banger needing a ride. After the insurance, and fixing a few things; I drove it for another 5 years. I know a lot has changed these days, though, and the theft networks are much more sophisticated. My prayers are for your Mojave being recovered, and for your peace.

Hello Everyone,

I've been reading these forums since before I bought my truck, and I'm beyond disappointed that my first post is on this topic. I bought my Mojave brand new at the end of November and absolutely loved it. Had a JL before that, but really wanted the versatility of the pickup. On Saturday, I went outside to load up the truck to head to some family parties, but my truck was gone. I've filed the police report, insurance claims for both auto and renters (for the property inside) and have also contacted SiriusXM Guardian who are trying to get a ping on it this week. If I had to bet, it's gone forever, probably in a shipping container oversees, with all GPS tech disabled. It's been 3 days and I still really can't believe it. I had just made my first payment on it 2 days prior to it disappearing.

I wanted to post for a few reasons. First, to raise the awareness. I had read a few posts here about stolen trucks, and of course I had heard about all the Kias and Hyundais getting stolen over the recent years, but of course I figured it was still such a slim chance that it could happen to me. Then it did. I don't know how it was taken.
Most likely it was taken by a repeater device that can listen to your key fob and repeat the same signal inside the truck. I'm so sorry this happened.

I have an airtag hidden with its speaker disabled in my JT, probably won't help recover it, but it might, if this every happens.

very easy.

Anyone with an iPhone will be alerted if a tag that doesn’t belong to them is following them.
Yes, true, but if you disable the speaker, they will never find the airtag

I have been looking at the Tazer for security as well as being able to make other changes. It is my understanding from this video you can set a security pin so if anyone tries to take it they will not get far.

Tazer with hood latch alarm turned on
Tazer pin no. required to drive (Goes into ABS 4 wheel lock)
Relocated horns and wiring (Horns wires can not be cut to disable horn alarm)
Snorkel runs over fuse box (Snorkel must be removed to access fuse box)
Most important. RAVELCO

https://www.ravelco.com/

RAVELCO was installed at my house and took about 2.5 hours
I assisted in the installation and had to remove 3 components to access the install
With all my accessory and all wiring in matching wire looms the thief's would have a hard time determining what is what and if they did find it which wires to jump with out blowing fuses
They may tow it away put they wont drive it away in 3 minutes
