I have a wouxon kg 1000 I want to transfer from my now wifes wrangler to my gladiator. In the wrangler I have a nice spot under the steering wheel that I have it hidden, but the same spot in the gladiator has some other hardware bolted in there.
I can't put it on the passenger side floorboard by the shifter. I already have my holster mounted there.
It won't fit in the glove box(it's ~ 6x2x8"). The passenger seat is a bad idea IMO as I've had standing water in jeeps there before, and I'd like to avoid putting it on a shelf above my head.
I can't really think of anywhere else it could go. Everything under the dash seems to be pretty tight.
Is the box under the back seat a possibility? I've heard stories of the rear window leaking water into the jeep but not sure if it leaks into that box.
The wouxon has a removable faceplate where the mic attaches and you can buy an extension cable for it so I'd hopefully have room to place it in more areas.

I have two radios under my rear seat, a Yaesu FTM-400 and an Icom 706MKIIG with the control heads on a RAM arm mount on the front of the center console. There are two plastic grommets on either side of the box to run cables in from under the vehicle and the hollow frame is a good place to run cables from the front to rear of the vehicle like power and antenna. For the control head cables you can simply run under the carpet from the radio brick to the control head.

I have seen the glove box gutted down to just the face and the pivots and a radio mounted there. Use a tether cable as a stop so it doesn't flop all the way out.

Apologies for my crude drawing ,
for me I have a small form CB radio with mic, speaker and controls on the hand set.
There is a channel in behind the dash where the red arrow points, it runs through from foot well to foot well and was large enough for me to run my cables and my small form CB just fits into the end of it well enough to hide and secure it. I ran the handset cord under the lip of where the blue line is and up to where the handset is mounted, it faces back to the driver slightly so its easy to see and in arms reach as needed or easy to use for the passenger as well.
The handset cord doesn't hang down above my head which I prefer

I do not know of the unit you have mentioned or if that would work for you but as a suggestion to consider

That’s where I have mine, there is space next to the glove box towards the driver side.

This sounds like a great option, I'll check it out, thanks!

I did my VHF/UHF under the driver’s seat, so the built-in speaker would be relatively close to my ears. Saves the effort of wiring in remote speakers and sounds good enough to me. Face plate above the center screen.

In my case, it’s mounted by the side to the backside of a Desert Does It utility panel, which mounts to their seat jackers. But there are many ways to mount it under the seat.

Here are the pics for my Wouxon Install. I wired the external speaker output to the front left dash speaker using THE WIZ External Speaker Wizard and PAC APH-CH03 AmpPro Harness, which is quite nice while running around with top off/doorless

Do you have the base unit's bracket screwed to the floor? Do you get water in from the mounting screws? (new to the jeep thing)

The unit doesn't need to be accessible at all. The front plate comes off and can be mounted apart from the rest.
mount it in the bed of the pickup truck
