I think he's talking about tall and skinny. IE - 35" diameter with a width of only 10 to 11.5".
I was responding to this part:

"Biggest size I see in a 17" wheel is 265/70R17 which will make it a nonstarter."

The Duratrac RT-LT has (4) 17" sizes that are bigger than 265x70x17.

Did you see the Duratrac RT-LT? There are a few bigger sizes for this tire.

https://www.goodyear.com/en_US/tires/wrangler-duratrac-rt-lt/24914-17610399100000.html

Maybe you're thinking of the original Duratrac? There is the original Duratrac and the Duratrac R/T that is being discussed here.

The OG Duratrac comes in 35x12.50x17 and 285x70x17.

The Duratrac RT doesn't come in either of those sizes.

There is a Duratrac RT-LT that comes in 285x70x17 and 285x75x17.
Ah I missed the "LT" page. There is a 34" at least in the 285/75/17 flavor. Would still love a proper 35 skinny or not.

Got me all excited. I've had 4 sets of Duratracs on my 4runner. Wanted to get them for the JTR but nothing bigger 305. That's too bad. If they have 37s or 38s, I'd order them today.
By they way, is there any discounts or deals going on at America's Tires?
I don't see any deals on the DuraTrac R/T's as of yet. But special deals are updated often. Feel free to stop by the DIscount Tire Deals page for regular updates!

Goodyear states that ride quality is improved, however, noise can be subjective, and for that reason, you should take advantage of the 60 day satisfaction guarantee if you find them to be noisy. You can also utilize Discount Tires return policy for piece of mind.
The 60-day guarantee is great and all, but depending on the tire (car tires included) get louder at 15k to 25k depending on the tire. I still have a ton of tread on my stock Wild Peaks but over the last 3,000 miles or so they are noticeably louder.

As discussed already, the sizing options are what is going to stop people from purchasing. I want the DuraTrac RTs, but will have to settle for the Territory MTs in 315/70/17.

As stated. Duratracs don't come in 37 or 38, so they're not an option. Was just checking to see if there's any general discounts. Thanks anyway.

An alternative to the Duratrac is the Kanati Trail Hogs. Same tread pattern. They are a bit more than half the price. I am ordering my fifth set tomorrow. Am running some 37 12.50 R17s on my 2500 Suburban, and will add some 37 12.50 R20s to my Ram 3500 (The ones I am ordering tomorrow) When my KM's wear out on my JT, it, too will get the Kanatis. I have been running them constantly now for, I think 5 years with great wear, unbelievable off-road manners, and they don't get very noisy. They do require frequent rotation for longer life. I swap tires at 50% tread life and that has always been 25K-30K. I had one set on a Duramax truck with a grizzly rear locker. That was pretty hard on them and did manage to chew them up faster, but for my money, there is not a better tire made (Cost being heavily weighted)

I recently got 255-80-17E Falkens at Discount Tire to replace the stock Mojave tires. I prefer the 8" tread width vs. stock 10" which are also 11 lb each heavier than the new, narrower tires. The new ones are spec'ed at 0.3" taller so I didn't have to change the speedo/odo settings.

Have you heard any noise reports? My buddy had duratracs on his z71 1500. Great tire for rain and snow, but god are they noisy now with around 30k on them....
My experience with 4 sets of Duratracs is that you have to rotate the hell out of them. I am talking like 3-4k miles. And then stay on top of alignments. If you let em go and they get a little wonky, its all over.

But they are the best A/T tire i've used in the snow. KO2's suck in the snow, I dont care if they have the 3PMS symbol or what anyone says. I've run two sets and neither impressed me at all.

The only thing I can contribute is from years go. I've had 2 different GY tires that had the kevlar cap ply's and they both were the worse flat spotting tires I've had beside non radial TSL super swampers. Unfortunately, it's a big pass for me. I didn't use to be like this, but when I see goodyears, it's like looking down at an ugly golf club. It just doesn't feel right. A big pass for me thank you.

Installed a set of P275/65/r18 DuraTrac RTs on the new JT a month ago. After 1500 miles of mixed on road driving, very impressed with how well they ride and handle, especially on wet road. No change in road noise or mpg from the stock all season. Haven't been off road yet. Will update over time. Great deal with the USAA discount and GY rebate.

How would you say it compares to the Ultraterrains. I've run them on two vehicles and find them good in snow, ice and rain. I assume the big difference is the Kevlar.

Looking at the 2 tires side by side, the DuraTrac R/T is geared more toward rugged off road performance and durability. The Ultra Terrain does do well in an off road environment, but is designed for the driver who wants aggressive all-terrain performance but doesn’t want to sacrifice on-road comfort.

Thanks. That what I thought. Plus you can get 35s with Ultraterrains.
