I bought my 2022 Gladiator exactly 2 years ago and it had run flawlessly until about a month ago. It had 33,000 miles on it and just shy of 35,000 now. Prior to the little issue I had, I was planning to just continuing to drive it for years. The slight issue made me consider purchasing a factory extended warranty just in case another issue pops up, so off I went researching the options out on the market. I needed to determine how long I intend to keep the Jeep and how many miles I think I might put on in the coming years. I like the truck and do tend to keep vehicles for many years, so that will impact my decision. I also used to drive A LOT, but with having a new puppy in our lives, one who will be going to the shop with me every day, my driving habits will be severely curtailed. In the past, 15-20,000 miles per year is typical for me, but I can see it being closer to 10,000 for the next few years.

A few minutes into searching for “Jeep extended warranty” lead me right back here to discussions on “to-do or not-to-do” as well as pricing. I decided that I would rather spend the $$$ for a warranty than keep the $$$ in my pocket and pay for repairs down the road. My truck is all stock, so I don’t think that there would be any issues of a denial due to any modifications. There are discussions of the different warranties that are offered by each dealer and the factory extended warranty. So I began making my calls. I called my selling dealer and they instantly began pushing an aftermarket(a/m) that they have had good luck with getting customers repairs covered. It was a zero-deductible, 8 year and 120,000 mile offering. I told him that I would rather go with the MOPAR factory extended warranty and he spent the next 3 minutes telling me the advantages of the a/m over the factory focusing on how much less expensive it was. I again told him that’s not what I wanted and asked if he could just forward me pricing on both.

Next was a local Jeep dealership where the conversation in the finance managers office went the EXACT same way. Their go-to was from JTR? Never heard of them, but that was their recommendation and it took some discussion to get a quote on the MOPAR, which he eventually did.

Third one was another local Jeep dealership and you can guess what happened, I asked for a factory warranty and he quoted and told me all of the virtues of the Zurich warranty. When I again explained that I wanted the factory one, he came back a few minutes later with that quote. It was a bit of a joke by this point.

I came back to this forum and looked at Granger Motors and followed their link to the on-line warranty quote link. It did quote the factory extended warranty, but at a higher price than expected, certainly not $25-$50 over cost. Some more searching lead me to Ziegler, another on-line quote system that was considerably less expensive for the same factory coverage(years & mileage). Strange and I did post on another thread about the discrepancies in pricing. Granger did eventually post in that thread and sent me a email to re-ly to for a quote. I did and forwarded my info asking for a quote. While looking at another extended warranty thread here, I found the contact information for a gentleman named Tom Winkels and the dealership that he works for. It was worth a shot as I was hoping to speak with a real person rather than trusting a website and spending $4000 at the touch of the enter button. I left a message at the number in the thread and much to my surprise, I received a call back in about 1/2 an hour. He introduced himself and i gave him the info on my Gladiator. While on the phone, he looked everything up and told me his COST on the warranty and told me that my price is his cost plus $25. Nothing else, bottom line, $3460!

When Granger finally did reply to my email, they were the same price, but it was only after going to their link, finding that it didn’t seem correct, inquiring as to why, receiving an email to reply to and more emails back and forth. No Phone number, nobody to speak with and no way to have questions answered other than waiting for an email. I may be old-school, but it’s reassuring knowing that I can speak to someone when I want to buy something.

I had quotes ranging from $4,995 down to $3,460 for the same coverage, 8 years and 125,000 miles for my 2022 Gladiator. I went with the company that called me back, spoke with me, explained everything and they were also the least expensive.

If anyone is looking for a great value on an extended warranty, I can’t say enough good things about this gentleman and his company:

I used Tom on my last two factory warranties.

He was a pleasure to deal with and emailed me copies of everything while I was on the phone. Hard copies came in the mail within a week.

It’s amazing how the dealership can play games with you on this. My parents bought a Grand Cherokee last year and their dealer told them they didn’t sell MOPAR max care warranties

I found this on the JL forums, you can buy the Mopar warranty from here for $50 over cost, according to them.

I should note that this quote is for a brand new 2023 gladiator.

Yes sir, that’s the first place that I went and this is their quote. Shopping around, doing some research and finally finding Tom saved me over $600. I don’t post much on these forums, but I thought that my experience and savings was worth making this thread. I hope others can take advantage of his “no BS” salesmanship and get themselves the best deal out there.

I almost bought an extended warranty but decided against it after comparing the price of it to what I have with Geico. For those with Geico, Mechanical Breakdown Insurance will cover you as long as you own the vehicle and keep your policy with them.

Bought my MOPAR MaxCare 125,000 8yr off the Dealer when I bought my 2022 Overland.
Said retail was over 5k, but sold it to me for $3,375. That was Sept 2022.
I have the $200 deductible version. Not sure which one you purchased.
Have come across a couple Dealers that want to sell the third party warranty.
The last one was from AllState Insurance. No thanks, always got the MOPAR MaxCare.
Not sure, but I think the Dealer takes a hit on the Labor rate when they perform Warranty Work under the MOPAR contract. Maybe those third party contracts pay the full Labor rate?

I have a '21 JTR with low milage (28K). Thinking about getting the extended Max Care warranty. Does anyone know if you purchase the extended warranty, but an issue arises that would normally be covered by the factory powertrain's 5yr/100K, do you still have to pay the deductible?

It's been my experience that they go to the Factory Warranty first if it is still in effect.
I think it's easier for the Dealers to push the paperwork and get paid with the Factory Warranty.
I have had instances where the Dealer had to push specific items to get paid under the MOPAR Max Care warranty. They got it through, but seems there are issues sometimes depending on the part.
Had that happen a couple times.
Just because you bought the MOPAR extended warranty, it doesn't negate the Factory warranty.
At least that has been my experience with Dealers in my area. (southeastern PA)

Interesting. I’ve never heard of this type of coverage. I’ll have to see if Progressive offers anything similar. Of course, the value would be determined by not just the deductible but how much it adds to the premium. At least it’s a possible alternative.
