If this isn't in the right place, let me know.

I posted about how my truck had body work, paint, and door seals done under warranty, which was done worse than a trade student could do. I've been to 2 dealers and at this point, their collision shop Jeep guy told me "We're not painting anything unless they authorize the whole truck to be painted. There's grey blotches everywhere, runs, orange peel, bubbles, it really looks like they just didn't care about their job and possibly rushed it. We can't paint just the areas because the amount of time needed to ATTEMPT blending it correctly would cost more in time and paint than it would to paint the whole truck."

The quote was over $8300 just in paint/parts and labor. Taxes add another $700. That's to repaint the entire truck and iirc fix the seals.

I'm not posting the PDF for privacy and warranty reasons. But this is just been a nightmare to get corrected under the OEM warranty, especially since they've done this 2x now and everything keeps getting worse.

I was tempted to post the 35 pictures the collision shop took too, but it's not the easiest to see in pics. IRL once you see everything, you just can't NOT notice after.

This is exactly why I stayed away from Mopar products growing up, horror stories just like this. Except usually it was for transmissions or hybrid systems or something stupid like that. I heard about Jeep and their corrosion issues, but that was more with older models and mostly wranglers it seemed. Now that I know more about vehicles, the industry, the laws regarding warranties and such...it's only made things more frustrating because there's a way it should be handled but that not how it IS being handled.

I really don't know how to feel at this point. I'm exhausted with the how dealers are handling this. JeepCares has been trying to help, but I've been calling dealers and they're blatantly refusing due to either "how do we know we'll get paid" or "We're not taking over for another dealer's mistakes". Yet FCA is telling me I can take it to any Jeep dealer I want and they WILL correct the issues under warranty. Someone chime in and tell me it's not just my PTSD affecting me and that this really shouldn't be happening and maybe offer a suggestion other than "have you tried sucking it up and accepting it won't happen" or "maybe be nicer"...because I've been nice about this for MONTHS and it's gotten me nowhere.

Sorry but I needed to vent this, and no one around me in person, other than the collision shop, seems to give a damn about what's right vs what keeps money in our pockets.

@JeepCares. Now would be a good time to step in for this man.

They already have, that's what I mentioned:

"JeepCares has been trying to help, but I've been calling dealers and they're blatantly refusing due to either "how do we know we'll get paid" or "We're not taking over for another dealer's mistakes."

But thank you!

We're not painting anything unless they authorize the whole truck to be painted.
Sorry to hear that. We have great dealers in town who would take care of the problem.

Who is to warranty that repainting? What do you want fixed?

The repaint is from a warranty claim previously that wasn't done correctly (hence the statements from the collision shop), therefore FCA/Jeep need to honor their work/warranty for workmanship.

I want the issues they caused (paint, door seals, tailgate) to be properly corrected. Not half assed and swept under the rug. If you had warranty work done at the dealer, and it wasn't done correctly or made things worse, you'd want it corrected wouldn't you?

Isn't that all reasonable?

Yes. Is this consistent with reviews about the dealership?

If I only used dealers based on relevant reviews, I'd bring driving to another state for service. Jeep dealers in my area only care about one thing, SELLING Jeeps. Their service depts are constantly some of the worse I've experienced, which is a reason I never bought a Ford, why would I want to spend my time at the dealer for stupid issues that many other brands don't have. Even worse when warranty runs out.
-Owning shouldn't be more expensive than leasing, which I can't do due to the distance I live from the city, jobs, just the fact 70% of my state is very rural. Takes 20 miles each way just for groceries or a decent paying job. And living in the cities isn't for me, been there done that. I don't like having neighbors, they always bitch about my music or motorcycles.
-- And it's even more expensive to buyout a lease than just make payments to own. Not to mention they didn't make a manual JT when I could finally afford it comfortably, so the whole lease option was void.

This is with almost every dealer I've talked to, they either are understaffed for techs (hmmm I wonder why), or simply refuse to do their jobs because of some excuse that isn't valid.

It's frustrating being an educated/experienced tech and then being given the run around like I'm some 90yo woman who just gets groceries and watches Lifetime all day.

It's either "we're not touching another dealers issue, unless you pay us yourself", "we don't have the time/techs/body shop for that", or "we can't replicate the issue" when it's only when severely wet and not just a carwash wet.

I've provided videos, documentation, etc and the more I can prove, the less they're willing to comply.

Sorry for the rant, and thank you for trying to be understanding of the situation.
-PTSD sucks. Hope everyone has a great weekend though :anxious smile emoji:

Fords have been the most reliable out of the vehicles I've owned. 🤷‍♂️

Too bad you're not in my area. I'm working with a Jeep dealer body shop now that has been really good.

And maybe that's what you'll have to do to resolve the issue; as you're confirming what the reviews are saying about the local dealers.

For the record - you are believed 100%. There is just about no such thing as a mechanic with even a touch of gray hair. I get it - everyone has to start somewhere. I just don't want that somewhere to be my oil pan drain plug.

I read the thread and I think this is likely your biggest issue with the dealership(s) that want to help. I had some issues with paint on a previous Jeep that were only visible at certain angles and not in direct sunlight. I suspect they were due to bird shit being left on before purchasing. I noticed it within the first week I owned it and it had spent that first week mostly in my garage (where I first noticed it). They tried blaming me but I had em fix it (all they did was polish it so they likely just removed enough of the damaged clear coat but at least it was documented in case further issues came up).

So far so good on my JT. But looking at some of the repair threads here, both body and drivetrain, makes me think it's less stress to just trade at the first sign of a major problem. Just kidding. Kind of. Best of luck with your repair!

Except I have proof via dealer repair orders of the body panels being replaced and painted, that dealer now uses a different body shop than they the first time for all their body work. Then second attempted didn't fix 99% of the complaints, except the spot that was blatantly only primer and no paint. I just can't trust that dealer again, or I'd be insane by definition "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results "

If these were mechanical issues I'd totally agree, well if finding a quality JT with a manual and relatively low miles on the east coast wasn't a hassle/non-existent. Only getting harder to find without being charged a premium for wanting the manual. I HATE automatics and will never trust one again after my multiple bad experiences and the new regulations around safety/nannies.

I appreciate your concern!
