This was just one reason why I didn't want the uconnect. I don't care about a larger screen, I care more about it talking to Jeep and sharing my data.

What 'data' are you so worried about? Your phone is collecting and sharing more data than the truck ever will. Jeep collects Telematics data for their research. They do not actively track vehicles. Nobody cares about you or where you go, unless you give them a reason to.

I’ve made this argument in other threads. You’re obviously right. But here come the conspiracy theories.

Like I said - drive something else if you must do something "off the books".

Otherwise, people like me don't give a hoot if they capture how a Jeep is used so they can make it better in the future, and marketing?
Bill Gates already ensured my body is tracked - I think one of those devices has wedged in my leg and now they have to do an ultrasound to figure out why the pain and swelling where there's nothing to hurt. My only thought is that I've been secretly injected with something and now it's causing problems. I knew it!

Ever since I got my covid vaccine my cellular reception has been much better so the trade-off was worth it for me

Maybe that's why I lost service yesterday.

In my opinion this is the worst attitude. It’s like people who say they have nothing to hide so go ahead and spy on me. It’s not the point.
I’ve also seen this with apps on your phone, ‘what does it matter installing just one more app’ and then before you know you have 100 apps.
Just because one company does something bad doesn’t mean it’s ok for others. My data is valuable, if it wasn’t it wouldn’t be sold. So yes I disable a lot of things on my phone and keep the amount of apps installed to a bare minimum. Has nothing to do with me being bad. I just don’t want companies gathering information on me to make money on without giving me a kickback.

I mean I’m with you… but I’m not sure what it buys you to disconnect. Your car’s brain stores all the relevant information with codes and there are certain ones like over-rev that can be very difficult to clear if you’re worried about warranty.

On the flip side…. I had a MY23 WRX that was junk (how I ended up in the Jeep). During one of its many visits to the dealership I was able to track the route of a 110 mile “test drive” to a tourist destination and then a wedding. In that instance it was nice being big brother.

Good luck. As someone who doesn’t trust our tech overlords either I sympathize with you.
Laughing.

When the dealer refused to do the TSB for my "wandering '19 JLU" I pulled the card in my dashcam.

They did a wall job when it was taken in. Left the Jeep sit for 2 hours. Then took it for a test drive. They went less than 45 klicks per hour (less than 30) on the smoothest roads in town. Took 6 minutes. They said they took a brand new one from stock and it was the same. "It's a Jeep Thing"!

I did get the THB done at a good dealership.

I wonder if the first dealership would have done a better diagnostics run if they had gone for coffee, or like yours to a wedding?

The problem is you are comparing your 'spy central data collector' phone, that you pay the data transfer cost for, to the Telematics data that Jeep collects and pays for. Yes, they have the ability to collect more in the future, but they aren't now. They pay AT&T for that monthly connection, and keep the data transfer small and simple. When they start adding body sensors and cameras, then you should be worried.

I don't do anything anyone would care about but I still don't like all the monitoring. If it has some positive aspect, like a map app that knows where I am so I don't have to tell it everytime or something like that but most of it is just creepy stalking in my opinion. One day if I ever take the UConnect loose from the dash I might disconnect an antenna or two and see what happens.

Here is a possible solution to the problem:

I am not a fan of all this technology and big brother stuff. Imagine my horror when I just got an email showing the exact mileage on my new Gladiator, etc. I don't like this at all. Is there anything I can do to stop this invasion of privacy? Thank you.
Thread title question answer: Yes.

Second thread question answer: No.

I have tried unsubscribing to the Jeep app multiple times. A week later, it emails me again with ALL vehicle stats. Part of the new vehicle experience these days.

Besides, big brother already knows everything about us already, so vehicle mileage is the least of our worries. ;)

That's a big part of the issue that people seem to have trouble understanding. Jeep does not monitor anyone. They do Telematics data collection, that the head unit automatically sends over the cellular connection. They have also programmed in some simple functions, which they charge you for access to use. These are not complex data collectors, like the phone in your pocket, but some people seem to believe that the truck is relaying their life story back to Jeep.

The Jeep app is just one of the windows into your Jeep account, which was created when you purchased a truck with a cellular equipped head unit.
