People Work?
having never worked on a jeep outside of my KL I was hoping to get a rundown of sizes of things I might need.
I have tools, but my rolling cart won’t fit in the jeep. I still have and use my craftsman tools from 1996. I’ve just picked up things as I go and need them, as most do.
for example…this beast

I needed one of those back in 1980. My father in law made me one in the machine shop at the hydroelectric powerhouse.

I’ve carried this on trails before. Log in my way no more.

Oooh, nice! I've been thinking of getting an eGo chain saw, but fallen trees are much less of an issue in the desert.

Torx plus T50 bit for driveshaft removal. I had to remove a guy's front drive shaft a couple weeks ago when the Rzeppa joint failed. These drive shafts are a known weak point. Luckily I had one in my kit. A normal T50 will technically work but the engagement is loose. This is what I have.

I went with the 1/2" drive set just to have a more ridged setup for these bits. I honestly don't know of anywhere else on our JT's that uses a torx+ bolt but they were designed for more positive bit engagement. The regular torx design slips out much easier under torque than these. I did also buy the entire set but keep the single T50+ in my off road box.

I keep a basic mechanics tool set, ratcheting wrench set, hammer, Allen key set in a tool bag under the back seat. when I go to the mountains I take the impact sockets, Ridgid 18v impact wrench, and ridgid 18v inflator. Also gorilla tape, zip ties, tie wire, and paracord are always on board.

Even in the garage, I find I grab the ratcheting wrenches a lot. They can be used for tight spaces, in place of a deep socket most times, and can be hooked together like combination wrenches for extra leverage. They are a great invention!

I stand corrected. I said it was a T50 + but it is actually called a 45 IP. I hate making incorrect statements so my apologies. I had to go to the shop to confirm but here is a picture of the bit itself. @starrskream

And this is the weird bolt that takes this special bit.

Any day it's cold enough for a fire there's solid fuel burning restrictions here, we plan to eventually get our old fireplace updated with gas logs. I also avoid firewood gathering in the desert, fallen deadwood is really important to soil pH and habitat for insects and small animals that are vital to the ecosystem. Deserts are really fragile that way.

One of my upcoming projects is a propane ammo can fire pit for desert camping.

I would add a 36mm for axle nut and a 12pt socket in a 13mm in case you blow a u-joint or an axle. There's a few videos on uTube that will show you how to get off the trail in 3wd.

Would a shaft safety loop be a worthy investment?

In my opinion, and it's just that, no it would not. The drive shafts aren't exactly known to go rogue and detach themselves although anything can happen. Typically when one fails its the result of a failed rpezza joint or broken u-joint. This would typically occur on a trail or at least in a low speed high torque situation such as climbing over an obstacle or coming down hard on something and recieving a shaft strike. A safety loop will most definitely get hung up on obstacles and cause way more issues than the issues it is designed to prevent. This is only my opinion though so you should build your rig however you feel safest doing so.
