I welded it to the stock bumper

@Redruby, you've got me thinking about doing something similar. Do you think the Rubicon's steel bumper is strong enough to mount this swing spare tire? I looked at my stock bumper and it looks like it is 10 gage or about 1/8" think. I don't think that would be enough to hold the swing out arm without bending. This Barricade spare holder is $400 and looks like it can be mounted to any flat, strong surface, with some holes/bolts added.

Mike I drilled the bumper then attached another steel plate then attached the swing away arms and bolted it all together. Did have some sway when opened so I welded some plates on the end of the bumpers see attached photo and I also made a latch that’s bolted to the door and comes down to grab the tire carrier and hold it snug against the rear door

So you went belt and suspenders! I like it.

Nice video on designing the pop up on your rig @Dan Grec . Like you said, the wedge is simple, but everything gets more complicated with a full lift top.

Dan how about 4 hydraulic or electrically operated rams to raise the top and a giant rubber band around the canvas to suck it in as the top is lowered, something like I have on my Alucab Canopy Camper?

I'm curious about the process to produce a Tusca Hitchhiker, and if that process could work for a Tune M1 type design or the MoonLander design ?

I took this nice day to blow some of the winter cob webs out of my rig and get ready for some camping. I made a small cutting board from the sink counter top cutout.

A couple nice days exploring around Iron County MO. The old mining villages in this area are called Ironton, Silvermines, Graniteville, Steelville, Old Mines, Leadwood, and Mineral Point. Old miners didn’t have much imagination! Rough and beautiful country.

Nope not a project M. OVRLND Camper from Flagstaff AZ. Hand built. Weighed it before they put it on. Even if it's 300lbs it's still half the weight more or less.

I am still specking it out. Delivery is in August when my daughter and I will visit on our way out to visit her grandpa.

Neat idea for a tailgate kitchen, but a bit pricey. Drop a burner or induction stove in it, and you're ready to go tailgating.

This is nice idea, like you stated stow the burners/cooktop in there, or stash house Power System, and I could still have the Bed Rug Tailgate cover on the door.
