Hi, new Gladiator owner here.

So I was looking under the dash where the sgw is located and saw this...

Jeep Gladiator Anyone know what this is?? 20240314_121505

Clearly it's aftermarket, just don't know what. Any help would be appreciated.

Oh, and I discovered this because I didn't understand why my tpms light isn't on after swapping tires/wheels to non-tpms ones.

That's a tracking device. Many dealers install them after it is unloaded from the delivery truck. Some use it for inventory control, others to sell you a security package.

TPMS automatically updates when the vehicle is moving, if the correct sensors are installed in the wheels.

Okay, so can I just remove it?

How long does take the tpms to reset? I've driven several times and approximately 30 miles since the tire swap. Thanks.

Yes, you can remove it.

If you installed tires/wheels with no TPMS sensor, your light should come on. Not sure why you are not getting a light.

Yup, just unplug the tracker’s pigtail from the factory obd-II port. Thats where it gets constant power from, so they can GPS track your Jeep.

They are powered by the 12v line in the OBD port. Some plug into the front of the port, others are tapped into the wire behind the port.

Yes, as Bill said. And I’m pretty sure that they are a constant parasitic drain on our finicky battery systems. Yet another reason why I would disconnect it.

Typically installed by dealers who also upsell "theft recovery services" with new vehicles. You can look up the name on the device for the web site that offers such subscriptions to recovery services.
