Watched a vid about the Willy's Dispatcher concept at Easter Jeep Safari that runs a set of super skinny, retro looking tires called 'Super Traxion'.

I love pizza cutters and they look fantastic. Plus weigh a mere 50 pounds (according to one website selling them). What a lightweight way to run 36" tires! But I know nothing about that tire's technology or negatives. Are they a total disaster at speed on the road? Why do only super old CJ3s seem to run them? Probably loud as a freight train. Would love to have that height to get over obstacles without all the weight of other 35" - 37" tires. Plus love the look. Anybody know anything about them? Vid:

Less than 17 in rim won't work
Ummmm....ugh. Yeah. I think you are right. JTs need a 17" rim due to the bigger brakes (I think). Well, that sucks and is also a relief because now I don't have to buy them. Thanks for bringing me back to Earth!

You may not be off the hook yet. I doubt they changed out the brakes on that Willy's to accommodate 16" wheels.

Sooooooooo, those might be available soon in a 17" version........

I think Wranglers can run 16" wheels because they have smaller brakes than Gladiators. I think.

I don't see a speed rating? Are they good up to at least freeway speeds. I know the mickey Thompson Baja boss MTs are only rated to 55mph. Might as well run stickies at that point.

maybe they balance like ass, or have a sub par load rating, speed rating. Or maybe not enough ply for some people comfort. I love its look but it tread pattern looks like water, snow, and ice are its worse enemy. sand, mud and rock is probably great tho.

On the Mickey Thompson web site, the Baja Boss MT shows a Q speed rating, which is 99mph (only exception is the 42x13.5x17 which is P = 93mph).
