Got this thing on Amazon. Seen a few videos and comments about it.
it’s 100$, yeah. Idk why really. Still,

https://a.co/d/egB0FSQ

honestly, I feel it’s worth half that. However it’s the only thing on the market that looks like it’s supposed to be there. You’d think it’s factory looking at it.

I’ve read the complaints “it’s not as bright as the factory lights on the speaker bar.” They’re right, it’s not.
I dislike reaching behind my head while driving to find the right button.

“It runs on batteries, they won’t last.”
You can buy a 6 pack of energizer type N batteries for 10$ on Amazon. https://a.co/d/0DSEOrd
The maker of the light claims the batteries should last about a year.
also, should you leave the light on it will shut off automatically after a few mins. It was cold out and I didn’t feel like sitting there to test it, batteries are cheap my time isn’t.

when you install this, it’s held on with 3m tape. Wipe with alcohol where it sticks to, let it dry. I also used a heat gun to warm up the tape to make it even more grippy. Press it to the surface and apply pressure for about 10 seconds.
anyways, here’s some pics!

look at my pant leg, that’s where the light is hitting. You can also see it lights up the dash. This thing is plenty bright

(the red lights are small led strips I got at 5 below. They’re plugged into a usb splitter in the plugs behind the console and wires are tucked under the console. They were 10$ for 2 strips at 5 below. They lasted 4 years in my trailhawk and are now in the gladiator.)

it also doesn’t just “come on” when you press the switch it fades on and fades off.

overall, I like it. The 100$ tag stings, but the level of refinement is worth it. The screw holding the battery cover in it has a plastic retainer so the screw won’t fall out when you unscrew it! They definitely put some thought into this.

Cool light, looks alright for the ol amazon special. BTW you don't have to reach behind your head to turn the map light on. Your cluster brightness dial by your headlight dial, if you click it all the way up it turns on the interior lights. Its alot better then making the guy behind you think your flipping him off looking for the damn button.

Would you mind sharing the USB splitter you used? Id like to do something similar for the footwells. Thanks.

I will be passing on this particular mod, living in the desert means anything held on with adhesive lasts about 5 minutes once the summer heat sets in.
fair, idk how well it will hold up this summer. Though we don’t see much past 90 here. Though, you could put a few dabs of super glue. I put one tiny drop on each piece in the center, just in case. Easily cleaned off if the tape and glue fail and it falls.

I know, this works well for my needs. I do love the overhead lights. This just easier than having them all on.

any 4 port, or any usb splitter will work.
I understand - I just hoped you had a link to an inline harness, similar to the 12v Y adapters people frequently use to feed off the cig lighter harness.

I can cobble together a hub and some mini usb adapters and whatnot to create this for the mini usb ports behind the media hub part, but I interpreted your post as having used an offshelf solution.

Thanks though!

Dude well aware.......just bringing humor to the title of the item

Bro, I did my 20 years in the Army.....yeah I was not a 11 series, but I can assure you I took down more HVIs/HVTs then the average 11 series as an intel bubba. I have the numbers to prove it. I love the Infantry vs. POG shit. I probably have a higher count with a 240B and 203 with 40mm HE then most infantry bubbas. The blue cord flex is generally inline with GT scores..........just based on my numerous combat tours during GWOT.........again just saying.

If we want to have a real flex......we can break out the 214s.

I put one of these in my Overland in February of 2023. It survived the summer heat and the batteries were still good when I traded it in. I also installed one in the High Altitude. They come with a safety strap that can be attached to the mirror in case the tape fails.

hah. 3-325 AIR 82nd Airborne.
not trying to flex. Just saying I can read maps lol. Better than most butter bars for sure!
I got out weeks before 9-11, landing on the bleachers at siscily dz does not do well for a career.
man I carried a 60, we got the 240’s and that thing was a beast. I carried a 16 with a 203 for a minute too. Never got to use it outside of quals with orange paint rounds. Still got a nice expert ladder tho.
